Fur Step Island

Upon starting, familiarize yourself with Mario's controls: right stick for camera, A/B for jump, X/Y for sprint, ZL/ZR for crouch. Advanced moves include Long Jump (crouch then jump), a higher jump (crouch, shake, then jump), Roll (crouch and X/Y while still), and Side Somersault (run, reverse direction, jump).

Navigate through the cat-eared trees towards a hill with blocks. Ignore these for now.

Jump onto the ship's deck. Fury Bowser will appear and attack by shooting fireballs that land near you and dropping large blocks to impede progress.

Cross the ship, avoiding fireballs and falling blocks. Note that Mario starts powered up; getting hit once shrinks him, and a second hit sends you back to the start, losing up to 50 coins.

After crossing the ship, blocks will fall, blocking the path to the bow and redirecting you to a grassy area.

Continue down the grassy area, climb the fallen blocks, and locate a shining object with Bowser's visage on top of them. This is a Cat Shine, but it's out of reach.

Move behind the nearby blocks (called Fury Blocks). Fury Bowser will prepare a large fire breath attack.

Hide behind the Fury Blocks as Bowser unleashes his fire breath, which will destroy both the Fury Blocks and the falling blocks.

Use the revealed ledges to jump up and grab the Cat Shine. This action lights the lighthouse and causes Fury Bowser to fall asleep.

Several islands will emerge from the water. Explore the area in front of the lighthouse. A clear pipe leads to the top. Ground Pound (jump then ZL/ZR) the light at the top to find a Super Mushroom. Unlike Super Mario 3D World, you can store multiple power-ups.

Drop to the ground and meet Bowser Jr., who asks for help in restoring his father. This marks the beginning of the main Bowser's Fury walkthrough.

Junior's Graffiti Gratitude Cat Shine: After collecting at least 50 Shines and defeating Bowser, fast travel to Fur Step Island if not already there. On the ship's deck, find Cat Goombas. Locate a white question mark. Use L/R to bring up a cursor, aim it at the question mark, and press L/R again. Bowser Jr. will paint a Cat Shine.
