• Super Mushroom: Transforms small Mario into big Mario, allowing him to take one extra hit without losing a life. Often the default power-up from ?-Blocks.
• Fire Flower: Grants the ability to throw fireballs that can bounce off walls and travel through clear pipes. Limited to a few on-screen at once.
• Boomerang Flower: Allows the character to throw boomerangs that return to the player. Can be used to collect items from a distance and is the other ranged power-up.
• Super Leaf: Grants the Tanooki Suit, enabling a slow descent while jumping and a tail attack. Unlike in Super Mario Bros. 3, it does not allow flight.
• Super Star: Provides temporary invincibility, increased run speed, and the ability to defeat most enemies on touch. Falling into pits or lava still results in a lost life.
• Mega Mushroom: Temporarily makes the character very large and nearly invincible to enemies and spikes. Can destroy ?-Blocks and obstacles, and a Ground Pound creates a shockwave. Lava and pits are still hazards.
• Super Bell: Grants the Cat Suit, allowing wall climbing for short periods, a pounce attack, and a swipe attack. Also enables climbing Goal Poles.
• Lucky Bell: Similar to the Super Bell, but performing a Ground Pound transforms the character into a statue that is mostly invincible, yields coins, and can defeat certain enemies. Appears from World Mushroom onwards.
• Double Cherry: Creates a clone of the character, controlled simultaneously. Up to four clones can exist, and they can be combined with other power-ups. Getting hit removes one clone.
• Invincibility Leaf: Grants Tanooki Suit abilities with invincibility. Appears if a player loses too many lives in a level. Completing a level with it does not count towards full completion and reverts it to a normal Tanooki Suit.
• Invincibility Bell: Grants Super Bell abilities with invincibility. Obtained by scanning Cat Mario or Cat Peach amiibo (random chance for Cat Peach).
