Valkyria Chronicles Episode 10a - Liberation of Fouzen (Infiltration of Fouzen) A Rank guide. Learn how to move the tank and use mine carts.
- One good scout (Alicia recommended)
- One engineer
- Rosie and Largo for Command Points (CP)
- A second scout (Scout 2)
Walkthrough
- 1Start by selecting Scout 2 and moving forward through the cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (an in-game cinematic) toward the rail cart. Get on the ramp and use the rail cart to reach the next stop. Eliminate the sniper nearby. Ride the rail cart back and position Scout 2 off the path.
- 2Select Alicia, run her to the rail cart, board it, and ride it to the other side. Follow the path north to another sniper and eliminate them. Be cautious of the two mines located just north of this sniper.
- 3With Alicia, advance again. You need to move her twice to eliminate both snipers, including the sniper leader. Reach the far northern side of the area and proceed down the path leading to the lower level. You can shoot the third sniper at point-blank range, then move down the path and target the sniper leader from below, or take them both out at close range.
- 4Select your tank and move it forward to eliminate a scout. Advance the tank again and take down another scout with its anti-personnel gun. Position the tank as close as possible to the bridge.
- 5Select your engineer, move them forward toward the grass north of the tank, and take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) (using objects for protection). This uses 9 CP. End your phase.
- 6On your next phase, move Alicia down the path, hugging the left wall. Attempt to trigger both searchlights (lights that activate mortars when units pass through their beams) in the area near the bridge to learn their mortar landing zones.
- 7Continue south and move between two houses to find a shocktrooper leader facing away from you. Shoot them in the back of the head.
- 8Move back northwest across the bridge (watch for mines) toward the enemy tank. End your turn just before the enemy tank can fire, though a few shots are acceptable.
- 9Select your engineer and move toward the first shocktrooper (if still alive). Approach from the right to remain undetected and eliminate them with headshots.
- 10While near the first shocktrooper, trigger the southernmost searchlight and then attempt to trigger the next one as far south as possible, which may require waiting. This allows your tank to pass through their target zones as it approaches the second set of houses on your right.
- 11With the engineer, head for the second shocktrooper. You should be able to sneak close to them, using the houses for cover if necessary. Eliminate them and proceed toward the bridge, ensuring you do not end your turn in a mortar zone.
- 12Save your game. Select the tank and move it forward three times (costing 6 CP), passing through the mortar zones. Each time, shoot the light tank on the bridge. If you miss, reload. By the end of your first tank move, you should be past the first bridge. On your third move, angle the tank slightly left (west) to avoid being exposed to the second enemy tank.
- 13Using your remaining 10th CP for the turn, reselect Alicia. Move her past where the tank was and shoot the standing lancer in the head. Hug the left wall and head toward the second rail cart. Board the cart and ride it to the next stop. You can move forward to a patch of grass and crouch. Consider throwing a grenade at the lancer in the grass to make them stand before engaging.
- 14On your next phase, select the engineer and move toward the bridge. Disable the anti-tank mine (an explosive trap). Attempt to trigger both northern searchlights in the same spot. The tank may trigger the southern one while you wait, which is ideal.
- 15Move the engineer across, aiming for the crates on the right side ahead. Toss a grenade at the hiding lancer or eliminate them directly, avoiding enemy fire from those guarding their base.
- 16Select your tank and continue moving forward.
Tips
- Triggering searchlights strategically, similar to Episode 8a, is key to avoiding mortar fire.
- Mine carts provide excellent opportunities to move troops behind enemy lines quickly.
- Using accurate weapons, like +accuracy scout rifles, is highly beneficial for scouts on this map.
- The enemy forces may not be very active, sometimes advancing and attacking your tank directly or doing little.
- Be aware that searchlights move on any unit's turn; if your tank is in a detectable area and you move a scout, the tank may be detected.
- If your tank's treads are ruined, you will need to reload.
- A Rank: 5 CP, 10 CP, 8 Leaders, 1 Ace, 2 Tanks
