Master Episode 7, 'The Battle at Barious,' in Valkyria Chronicles. Learn strategies for the boss tank, ragnite walls, radiators, and the super boss for an A Rank.
Walkthrough
- 1Phase 1: Turrets
Deploy two lancers on the northernmost spot (Largo recommended) and Alicia on the third spot for bonus CP. On the southern side, place an engineer on the northernmost point, a shocktrooper below it, and two more lancers with a shocktrooper (Rosie recommended) in the middle. Use your northern lancers and tank to destroy the front-left and far-front turrets. Return lancers to the trench. Save after each difficult shot. The boss tank will move but pose little threat. Enemy ground troops will advance on your southern position. - 2Phase 2: More Turrets & Enemy Units
Move your tank east. Use the tank and your two lancers to destroy the back-left and far-rear turrets. Keep your tank safe from enemy lancers and park your lancers behind it when done. Use your western shocktrooper to move south, then east to eliminate the enemy scout and sniper. Ensure you are out of turret range and behind cover. - 3Phase 3: Base Overrun & Ragnite Walls
The boss tank will overrun your middle base. Your engineer will be safe. Your objective now shifts to destroying two ragnite walls by hitting them with a lancer on their flat side. There are five ragnite walls on the map; you do not need to destroy the westernmost one directly in front of the tank (it's already down), nor the final two. Focus on the next two critical walls. - 4Phase 4: Radiators Exposed
Once the boss tank stops to shoot a broken wall with its main gun, it will expose three radiators. These can be destroyed with lancer shots (approx. 4 per radiator) or tank shots (2 per radiator). Climbing ladders on the tank provides better access, but they can be shot from the ground. It's recommended to damage each radiator 3 times with lancers, leaving them with 1 hit remaining, before destroying two. Radiators retract once one is destroyed and do not heal. - 5Phase 5: Super Boss Appears
After destroying two radiators, a super boss appears in the northeastern corner with elite troops and an ace. This super boss is invulnerable to all attacks and can quickly eliminate most units, except possibly Welkin if his weak spot isn't exposed. Strategy at this point relies heavily on luck and careful positioning. - 6Phase 6: Destroy the Boss Tank
Even after destroying the third radiator, you must still destroy the giant boss tank itself. It has no weak spots but is a large target. It requires approximately 6 lancer shots and 3 tank shots, or 2 lancer shots and 8 tank shots. By the final turn, you should have ample CP if your troops are still alive.
Tips
- The boss tank has 6 turrets. Destroying them with one tank shot and one lancer shot is efficient. Alternatively, 4 AP per turret using two tank shots is also viable. Destroying all turrets is highly recommended.
- It is advisable to destroy every enemy unit on the map to prevent them from capturing bases or calling reinforcements, and to allow for freer movement later.
- Save frequently, ideally in different slots, due to the battle's difficulty and changing phases.
- Ensure all your troops are at least level 7. Load your tank with +accuracy items.
- The westernmost ragnite wall and the final two do not need to be destroyed.
- Radiators will not heal themselves once damaged.
- The super boss is invulnerable; focus on survival and positioning rather than direct confrontation.
