Understand Defense, Dodge, Parry, Block, Resilience, and more for tanking in World of Warcraft: Midnight. Learn how stats affect your character.
Defense Stats Explained:
- Dodge: A chance to completely avoid melee attacks, but it does not affect ranged attacks.
- Parry: A chance to parry a melee attack, effectively turning a successful hit into a failed attack.
- Block: A chance to block either a melee or ranged attack using a shield. This reduces some of the incoming damage, but does not negate it entirely.
- Block Value: This stat increases the amount of damage that is reduced by a successful block.
- Defense Rating: Accumulating Defense Rating increases your overall defense skill. Think of Defense Rating as similar to Attack Power, while defense itself is akin to weapon damage.
- Defense: This stat directly increases your defense skill.
- Armor: Reduces the amount of physical damage you take.
- Resistance: Decreases magic damage of a specific type. You can view your resistances next to your character's profile on the character window.
- Resilience: This stat is primarily found on PvP gear and is exclusive to PvP. It decreases the chance of critical strikes hitting you and also reduces all overall damage taken.
- Health Regen: This determines how much health is restored over time, both in and out of combat. Health regeneration is significantly higher when out of combat.
