Understand World of Warcraft: Midnight looting systems: Group Looting, Loot Master, and Free-for-all. Learn when to use each.

Group Looting
This is the default looting system in World of Warcraft: Midnight. In Group Looting, each player gets an individual turn to loot a corpse. If you open and close a corpse without taking all the items, it remains open for anyone else to loot.

Loot Master
This system requires a trusted and honest individual to manage loot distribution. The designated Loot Master decides who receives which items. This method is most effective in raids, where players might have a need for items they cannot personally use. The Loot Master can then determine the fairest distribution, often by having players manually roll using the /roll command.

Free-for-all (FFA) Looting
Free-for-all looting is generally not recommended. It allows players to bypass combat and immediately loot corpses, which can be disadvantageous for those with laggy connections. FFA looting should only be considered in a two-person party where one player has no need for any of the potential loot. Even in a three-person group, there's a risk that someone may be left out of the loot distribution.

Tips
  • Group Looting is the standard and safest option for most situations.
  • Loot Master is ideal for organized groups like raids to ensure fair distribution of valuable items.
  • Avoid Free-for-all looting unless you are in a small, trusted party with clear understanding of loot needs.
