Start by heading down the path. You'll immediately encounter a crystal bug. Take it down quickly to score a valuable Titanite Slab and a few Titanite Chunks.

At the bottom of the stairs, you'll find a woman. Have a quick chat with her, then proceed up the stairs until you reach the top.

As you approach the statues ahead, be ready – they'll animate and attack! Shortly after, you'll face four more enemies. It's a good idea to deal with the statues first, as they can be a nuisance. Once they're down, move further up the stairs to take on the larger group of opponents.

Once you enter the castle proper, go up the stairs and speak with Chancellor Wellager. He'll teach you a new gesture, 'This One's Me,' and you can also browse his shop for any useful items.

Head back downstairs and then travel around to the left. You'll come across an enemy; defeat it. Continue into the next hallway. Up ahead, several enemies are waiting. It's best to lure them back one by one to make the fight much more manageable.

Go through the door on your right. Inside, you'll find a pair of enemies. Dispatch them, then climb down the ladder.

Open the door at the other end of the room below you. Walk through the next door along to find and light a bonfire.

Now, exit the room and take a right. Be on guard as you approach the doors – the statues nearby will come to life. Take them down, but try to engage them two at a time to avoid being overwhelmed.
