Navigate the tower area in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, defeat Old Knights, and face the Dragonrider boss. Learn strategies and find items.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Face and defeat slow, powerful Old Knights. Sword-and-shield types use 3-4 stroke combos, while single-blade wielders use powerful sweeps or downward pile drivers.
  2. 2
After defeating the first Old Knight, find a staircase behind the giant eagle statue leading down to a Bonfire.
  3. 3
Defeat the second Old Knight to receive a Sublime Bone Dust, which permanently upgrades your Estus Flask when burned in the Far Fire in Majula.
  4. 4
Loot the corpse behind the second Old Knight for a Soul of a Nameless Soldier and a Human Effigy.
  5. 5
Encounter and defeat the third Old Knight upstairs.
  6. 6
Pull the lever that raises behind the third Old Knight to raise another platform in the tower ahead.
  7. 7
Retrieve a Lloyd's Talisman from a corpse behind the heavy door.
  8. 8
Proceed to the next tower where three more Old Knights await. Be cautious of the middle knight with the massive weapon. Lure them to a more open space if needed.
  9. 9
After defeating all three knights, pull the lever near the broken pillars facing the tower to raise a platform for the upcoming boss battle.
  10. 10
Choose your path: left leads to the Cathedral of Blue, right leads to a derelict tower and the Old Dragonrider. It is advisable to head right first.
  11. 11
Open a chest on a platform before the Dragonrider tower to receive three Green Blossoms.
Tips
  • For Old Knights, circle them closely with your shield up, staying behind them to evade attacks. Lure them towards the edge to make them fall off.
  • The Dragonrider boss arena is narrow; falling off means death. Pulling the levers beforehand expands the arena.
  • The Dragonrider wields a Halberd and Greatshield, is not fast, and has a predictable attack pattern. Circling to his back keeps you safe and leaves him open.
  • Evade the Dragonrider's stabs and downward hacks by leaping right. Avoid double-slashes by keeping distance and rolling away.
  • You can shoot arrows at the Dragonrider from an open stone walkway before entering the mist. After about 100 arrows, he will block, but his health will be significantly depleted upon entering the arena, allowing for a one-hit kill.
  • It is possible to lure the Dragonrider off the pit by not activating any levers for extra space. Stand on the edge and bait his Thrust attack, moving out of the way as he lunges to make him fall.
  • The Dragonrider can be poisoned, even in New Game+.
  • The Dragonrider is highly resistant to Thrust attacks (Spears or Rapiers).
  • Sublime Bone Dust (permanently upgrades Estus Flask)
  • Soul of a Nameless Soldier
  • Human Effigy
  • Lloyd's Talisman
  • Three Green Blossoms
  • Souls from defeating enemies and bosses.
