Find Magerold of Lanafir in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, join the Dragon Remnants covenant, and get the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +1.

Magerold of Lanafir is located in a room to the right after defeating the first 4 Alonne Knights and entering the Iron Keep.

If you spend 10,000 souls and select the "talk" option, Magerold will profess that you and he have similar tastes and will reward you with a Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +1.

You can offer the Petrified Egg to him in exchange for the ability to join the Dragon Remnants covenant (a type of faction). It is worth noting that if you are currently carrying the Petrified Egg, you cannot trade with him. Depositing it into storage will allow trade again, while allowing you to keep the egg.
