Learn how to defeat the Dullahan boss in Darill's Tomb in Final Fantasy VI. Get tips on party setup, abilities, and strategy to overcome this challenging foe.
Walkthrough
- 1After the events leading up to Darill's Tomb, you'll face the boss, Dullahan.
- 2Dullahan's Abilities: Dullahan can use a basic attack, Morning Star (stronger), Blizzara, Blizzaga, Absolute Zero (ice damage to all), Northern Cross (can inflict Freeze), Lv. ? Holy (damage based on your Gil amount), and Cura (starts around 10,000 HP).
- 3Recommended Party Setup: It's a good idea to start this battle by using Kirin, Fenrir, Ifrit, and another character of your choice, likely Zona Seeker.
- 4Opening Moves: Dullahan will open the battle with Lv. ? Holy. This attack's damage depends on your current Gil amount. After curing any damage, using Runic can help negate its strongest spells.
- 5Combat Strategy: Keep Celes on constant Cura/Esuna duty. When she's not healing, have her use Fira. Let Sabin use his Rising Phoenix technique. Edgar should use his Drill. For Setzer, if his attack power is low, have him use Fira as well. Be prepared to revive fallen characters with Phoenix Downs and use Potions when necessary to keep the party healthy.
- 6After the Battle: Once Dullahan is defeated, a room will open up in the back. Proceed through it and go downstairs. You'll witness some scenes between Setzer and Darill in the background. At the bottom of the stairs, you'll discover a new airship, marking the end of this sub-section.
Tips
- Using Runic after healing can help mitigate the damage from Dullahan's powerful spells.
- Keep a close eye on your party's HP and be ready to use Phoenix Downs and Potions to revive and heal characters quickly.
- The Lv. ? Holy spell's damage is directly tied to your Gil. If you have a lot of Gil, expect this attack to hit hard.
