Learn how to socket runes in Lords of the Fallen (2023) and discover all Strength, Agility, Radiance, and Inferno rune effects for weapons and shields.

To equip Runes in Lords of the Fallen (2023), you must first rescue the Blacksmith Gerlinde and give her the Cracked Rune Tablet found in Fitzroy’s Gorge. After this prerequisite, you can unlock rune slots by upgrading weapons or shields. Each slot has a specific type (inverted triangle, diamond, star, or circular) that dictates which Rune can be socketed.

Talk to Gerlinde at the Skyrest hub and select “Socket Runes”. Choose your preferred weapon or shield, and you will see a list of your acquired runes. The bottom left of the screen shows which Rune Types fit the selected equipment. Select the desired rune and exit the menu. Runes can be socketed and removed at any time without being lost.

Rune Types:

• Circular: Strength
• Inverted Triangle: Agility
• Diamond: Radiance
• Star: Inferno

Runes are found as loot in the world or dropped by specific enemies and bosses after giving Gerlinde the Cracked Rune Tablet. Performing a Grievous Strike increases the chance of obtaining a rune. You can further boost item discovery by equipping the Bountiful Ring, using Lucky Paw / Charmed Paw consumables, and equipping the Nhelaq Rune on your shield.

Strength Runes (Circular Type):

• Aelstrix: Weapon: Increase damage of Ranged and Throwable Weapons. Shield: Increase maximum ammunition capacity.
• Ativ: Weapon: Increase Strength scaling. Shield: Increase Strength attribute slightly.
• Gravix: Weapon: Increase physical damage while two-handing. Shield: Increase maximum equipment load.
• Halsan: Weapon: Increase physical damage. Reduce Strength attribute scaling. Shield: Increase Vitality attribute.
• Hilvit: Weapon: Increase Strength scaling. Shield: Increase Strength attribute greatly.
• Ixon: Weapon: Increase damage of Ranged and Throwable Weapons. Shield: Increase Strength attribute greatly.
• Oritix: Weapon: Increase Strength attribute scaling / Reduces Agility attribute scaling. Shield: Increase maximum ammunition capacity.
• Relox: Weapon: Charged attacks deal increased damage. Shield: Increase poise.
• Ruq: Weapon: Increase posture damage. Shield: Reduce wither damage while blocking.
• Scaeve: Weapon: Increase damage to an enemy’s poise. Shield: Increase poise.
• Xiax: Weapon: Reduce weapon weight. Shield: Reduce shield weight.

Agility Runes (Inverted Triangle Type):

• Akus: Weapon: Reduce Stamina cost of attacks. Shield: Increase stability.
• Atarux: Weapon: Increase rate of Poison buildup. Shield: Increase resistance to Poison.
• Dimexus: Weapon: Increase physical damage while dual-wielding. Shield: Increase stamina regeneration rate.
• Hix: Weapon: Increase Agility attribute scaling. Reduce Strength attribute scaling. Shield: Increase Strength attribute massively. Reduce Agility attribute slightly.
• Nhelaq: Weapon: Increase vigor gain. Decrease physical damage. Shield: Increase item discovery rate.
• Ornx: Weapon: Grievous Strikes deal increased damage. Shield: Increase resistance to stagger effects.
