Spotting Mimics in Lords of the Fallen

Alright, so you've lit up that first beacon and you're feeling pretty good about yourself, grabbing all that shiny loot. But watch out! Lords of the Fallen loves to throw a curveball, and sometimes those treasure chests are actually Mimics. If you try to grab one, it'll bite you and send you straight to the Umbral Realm. Not fun, right?

The good news is, you can still get the loot! If you accidentally trigger a Mimic, don't panic. You can use your Umbral Lamp to Soul Flay the Mimic. This will coax the enemy out, leaving the actual item behind for you to grab. Just be aware that if you get caught, you'll need to rest at a Vestige to try again. Also, every Mimic you successfully loot will always give you a Vestige Moth and a Charmed Paw, so there's still a reward for your bravery.

Now, how do you avoid getting ambushed in the first place? It's all about paying attention. Look closely at the line that sits just above the treasure item. If it's standing straight up and looks perfectly still, you're probably in the clear. But if that line is angled and you can see it swaying back and forth, that's your big red flag – it's a Mimic! You really have to slow down and look; rushing in to grab every item you see is a surefire way to get surprised. Take a moment to clear out any nearby enemies and then give the treasure a good, hard look before you commit.
