An Unexpected Visitor

Learn how to survive the Dah'ren Mohran's assault on your ship and protect the town in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with this step-by-step walkthrough.

Alright, so you've just arrived and BAM! Out of nowhere, this absolute unit of a dragon, the **Dah’ren Mohran**, decides to make a grand entrance by smashing into your ship. Think of it like a giant desert whale that just demolishes everything. It's heading straight for the town, and your ship is its first target!

When the attack starts, your ship's gonna tip like crazy. To keep your footing, you need to press and hold the R shoulder button (or ZR if you're using the Circle Pad Pro). This uses your stamina, but don't sweat it if you fall – a safety line will pull you back up. If you get knocked off, just move forward and press A to get back on the ship.

Keep an eye out for red arrows; these are your guides. Dah’ren Mohran's got the Caravaneer's hat stuck on one of its horns! As soon as the beast gets close enough to the ship, follow those arrows and step onto its body. Hustle over to where the hat fell and press A to grab it. Once you've got it, you can either jump back onto the ship or dive into the sand and use that handy safety line again.

Now for the main event: repelling Dah’ren Mohran to keep the town safe while reinforcements are called in. The Caravaneer will point you towards the ship's Cannons. First, you'll need to grab some Cannon Ammo. Once you have it, press the R shoulder button (or its CPP equivalent) to carry it over to a Cannon. Then, press A to activate it! Keep firing cannonballs; after you deal enough damage, Dah’ren Mohran will flinch and then leap over your ship to start another attack. Just keep at it with the cannonballs.

After you've landed enough hits, the Caravaneer will warn you about a strong incoming attack. Drop everything and make a run for where he's standing to avoid it. If you don't make it in time, no worries – this is a tutorial, so there's no health bar to stress about. Just use what you've learned: press R to steady yourself, or if you get knocked up, use the safety line to get back on the ship. Once that's over, get back to using those cannonballs.

Once you've done enough damage again, the Caravaneer will tell you it's time to use the Gong. Dah’ren Mohran is super sensitive to sound, so this will make it flinch. Head over to the Gong's activation button and wait for the Caravaneer's cue. Right after he finishes talking, press A and ring the Gong!
