Alright, so you've just started your journey as a hunter in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and the very first place you'll be exploring is the Ancestral Steppe. Think of it as your training ground – it's got a bit of everything: ledges, forests, rocky bits, you name it. The weather's nice and mild, making it super easy to get around, which is why it's the perfect spot for us beginners to get our bearings.

Let's break down what you can find in each spot. You'll be coming back here a lot, so it's good to know the lay of the land.

Gathering Spots

There are tons of places to gather stuff, mostly plants. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can find where:

• Plants: You'll find these in Areas 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9.
• Mushrooms: Hit up Areas 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, and 9 for mushrooms.
• Berries and Seeds: These are scattered across Areas 2, 3, 4, and 8.
• Bones: If you need bones, head to Areas 6, 7, and 9.
• Honey: You can gather honey in Areas 1, 4, 6, and 8.
• Ores: Keep an eye out for ores in Areas 3, 4, 6, and 7.
• Insects: Grab insects from Areas 1, 2, 3, and 9.
• Dung: The only place to reliably find dung is in Area 9.

Other Key Areas

• Area 5: This is the Rathian's nest. You can snag Wyvern Eggs here, but be warned – the Rathian is super protective and might show up to defend her nest! So, be ready for a fight if you decide to pilfer her eggs.
• Area 7: Honestly, fighting monsters here can be a real pain because of all the high ledges. You're pretty exposed when you're climbing up to attack, and if you're below the monster, you're a prime target for a nasty dive attack. Seriously, watch your back when you're in a scrap here.
• Area 9: A lot of monsters like to wander over to Area 9 to take a nap, especially if they're injured and limping away. If you've lost track of a monster that isn't a Rathian or Rathalos, Area 9 is a good place to check for them.
• Area 10: This is the Felyne Village! It's your go-to spot for recruiting Palicos to join your team. Plus, there's a fishing spot right here if you're in the mood to cast a line.
