Alright, let's talk about the Great Jaggi in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Think of this guy as your friendly neighborhood tutorial boss. He's one of the smaller monsters, and honestly, one of the easiest you'll run into. He doesn't have a ton of health, his attacks aren't super damaging, and he doesn't have any fancy elemental tricks up his sleeve. This makes him perfect for practicing your moves and for farming some early-game armor. You'll recognize him because he's way bigger than the regular Jaggi and Jaggia, and he's got this cool frill that shows he's the boss of the pack.

Where to Find Great Jaggi:

Great Jaggi likes to hang out in a few different places:

• Ancestral Steppe: You'll usually find him starting out in area 6, and he wanders around areas 2, 3, 4, and 8. When he needs a break, he heads to area 9.
• Sunken Hollow: He'll start in area 2, roam through 1, 4, and 6, and rest in area 7.
• Dunes: Look for him in area 4, he'll roam through 1 and 3, and rest up in area 5.

Great Jaggi's Attacks:

You'll want to know what he's capable of:

• Frontal bite: He'll step forward and try to chomp you. Just roll or run to the side to dodge this. Easy peasy.
• Sideswipe bite: This one's a bit trickier. He'll step to the side and swing his head around. Your best bet is to position yourself away from the direction he's swinging.
• Tail whip: He'll whip his tail around twice, each covering 180 degrees for a full spin. Watch out, because as he moves, his tail can send you flying! Best to keep your distance when he does this.
• Hipcheck: This is probably his hardest-hitting move, though that's not saying much. He'll turn his side towards you and just try to ram into you. It's pretty obvious when he's about to do it. He might even do it a few times in a row, so just stay clear until he's finished.
• Minion making: This attack doesn't hurt you directly, but it can make the fight more annoying. Great Jaggi will howl to call his little buddies, the Jaggi and Jaggia, to come and distract you. The good news is that you can interrupt him! If you see him howling, wail on him to flinch him and stop him from summoning reinforcements.

Breakable Parts:

• The Frill: If you aim for his head, you can break his frill. You'll know you've succeeded because it'll look all tattered afterwards.

Great Jaggi's Weaknesses:

• Elemental: He's weak to Fire attacks.
• Status: Blast is also effective against him.
