Learn how to use the Casting Machine with your Palicos in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate to catch fish, earn materials, and level up your feline friends!

Alright, so you've unlocked the Casting Machine, which is pretty awesome! It means you can skip that annoying in-quest fishing minigame and let your adorable Palicos do the work. Plus, you might even snag a Plesioth!

Here's the lowdown: Head over to the sign near the Casting Machine. For 50 CP (Caravan Points) each time, you can send out a net. You can pick up to five of your Palicos to help out. As you're choosing them, you'll see they have special fishing skills like “Fearsome Fisher” or “Arowama Catcher.” You can check out what each skill does by looking at the Palico Info on the Palico Board. Once you've got your five best anglers, grab the left c-stick and aim the net. You'll see a small red circle showing where it'll land. Try to line it up with schools of fish so you can catch a bunch at once for the best rewards.

Keep an eye out for a big fishy monster swimming around – that's the Plesioth! While you can't fight it in this game, hitting it with the net is a big deal. You'll fish it up and get awesome materials like scales and fins, perfect for crafting Plesioth weapons and armor. It's a cool callback to games like Freedom Unite and 3 Ultimate.

Using the Casting Machine is good for your Palicos too. They get a little bit of experience each time, and after enough uses, they might even level up! The fish you catch can be used for item combining, sold for money, or are even essential for crafting ammo, especially for Gunners. So, make sure to use it whenever you've got some spare CP!
