Rite of Passage

Learn how to complete the Rite of Passage side story in Octopath Traveler. We'll guide you through finding the necessary NPCs and items in S'warkii and North S'warkii Trail.

Alright, so you've finished H'aanit's Chapter 1, and now you're looking to tackle the 'Rite of Passage' side story in S'warkii. It's a pretty straightforward one, but it gives you a nice little reward of 1,500 Leaves and a Refreshing Jam. There are actually two ways to wrap this up, and both involve heading out into the North S'warkii Trail to find some specific folks.

Option 1: The Inquire/Scrutinize Route

For this path, you'll need either Alfyn or Cyrus in your active party. Once they're in, head out of S'warkii and make your way to the North S'warkii Trail. Just follow the path until you hit a crossroads. From there, take the path heading west. Keep an eye out, and you'll eventually spot an NPC called the Roving Naturalist. Your goal here is to use either Alfyn's 'Inquire' or Cyrus's 'Scrutinize' ability on him to get the 'Where the Giant Boar Roams' information. Once you've got that piece of intel, just head back to the Aspiring Hunter (he's south of the equipment shop in S'warkii) and hand it over to complete the quest.

Option 2: The Purchase/Steal Route

If you're going with this option, you'll need either Therion or Tressa in your party. Again, head out of S'warkii to the North S'warkii Trail. When you reach the crossroads and the save point, this time you'll want to head east. Keep following the path, and eventually, you'll run into the Nomadic Hunter NPC. Now, you have two choices here: if you're using Therion, you can 'Steal' from him; if you're using Tressa, you can 'Purchase' from him. What you're after is the item called a 'Giant Tusk'. Grab that from the Nomadic Hunter, and then take it back to the Aspiring Hunter in S'warkii. Hand over the tusk, and you're done with the quest!
