Walkthrough

From the main menu, choose to play a 2-player game.

Player 1 controls Mario, and Player 2 controls Luigi.

Players take turns playing through the levels.

If one player passes a midway gate (a checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death)), the other player will also start from that point.

Tips

You can play with one controller, switching after each turn, or with two controllers, one for each player.
On the map screen, press L and R to give lives to your co-player.
If using one controller: Press A to give a life from Mario to Luigi. Press B to give a life from Luigi to Mario.
If using two controllers: Press Y on the second controller to give a life from Mario to Luigi. Press Y on the second controller to give a life from Luigi to Mario.
Press Start when you are finished managing lives.
