Alright, let's talk about the little ones in your empire – your children! In Total War: Rome II, keeping your family line going is pretty important, though sometimes it feels like the game's playing hardball with you. The game tries to keep a balance between the number of provinces you control and how many family members you have. So, don't get too bummed out if a couple of your characters never manage to have kids; it happens!

Most of the time, though, if your characters are married, they'll usually end up with at least one child. Keep in mind that traits like 'Fertility' or 'Infertility' can definitely play a role in how easy or hard it is to have children. Also, where your characters are physically located and what they're doing can make a big difference. If you've got a character constantly off fighting in some far-flung region, like battling the Gauls up in the Alps, they might never get around to starting a family. On the flip side, if your characters are chilling in the heart of Rome, managing cities and focusing on domestic affairs, you're much more likely to see a few new heirs pop up!
