Women in Total War: Rome II have a limited role. You can never control women directly. However, they are pivotal for increasing the number of family members in your faction. Married men typically have a few children, but the number of children per turn can increase significantly based on the number of provinces you control. For example, if you conquer fifteen Gaul provinces, you might have multiple children born each turn.

When a woman's spouse dies, she will not take another husband. The next notification you receive regarding her will be her death.
