Guide to Warcraft III: Reforged's The Culling mission. Destroy plagued villager houses and kill 100 zombies before Mal'Ganis claims them.
Walkthrough
- 1Train a few more peasants, assign one more to gold, and a couple more to lumber.
- 2Build about 5 watch towers (upgrade them to scout towers) near the town hall to defend against minor attacks.
- 3Build the rest of your base in the top right area.
- 4Build a blacksmith and upgrade your town hall.
- 5Get the improved masonry upgrade from the lumber mill.
- 6After you have a keep, get the improved lumber gathering upgrade from the lumber mill.
- 7Take Arthas with the starting 2 footmen and 2 knights south into the town.
- 8Start dropping houses and killing villagers as quickly as possible to prevent them from turning into undead.
- 9A cut-scene will occur indicating Mal'Ganis will start claiming villagers.
- 10If you encounter Mal'Ganis, focus all fire on him and use Arthas's Holy Light to drop him quickly.
- 11Ensure your scout towers are upgraded and start attacking the next house.
- 12While attacking houses, get damage and armor upgrades for knights from the blacksmith, the lumber harvesting upgrade (if not already done), and the next rank of masonry.
- 13Once you have the resources, upgrade your keep to a castle.
- 14While your base is being set up, order Arthas and his group to attack a house and let them auto-attack villagers when they turn undead.
- 15Once your base is set up, focus on killing villagers.
- 16Destroy a couple more houses and villagers, then get your second ranks of melee weapons and armor upgrades.
- 17Stay away from Mal'Ganis for now.
- 18Once your castle is complete, get the final rank of lumber harvesting, animal war training for knights, then start training knights and set their rally point to Arthas.
- 19When Arthas levels up, get his Devotion Aura upgrade.
- 20If Mal'Ganis attacks before you have a good number of knights, retreat to your base and focus on destroying houses elsewhere to buy time.
- 21Head to the top left if Mal'Ganis chased you from the bottom, or to the bottom right if he chased you from the top left.
- 22Keep your barracks queue full with knights and get the final upgrades from the blacksmith for knights.
- 23Get the final rank of masonry if desired.
- 24Keep knights training, repair defenses as needed, and build farms as needed.
- 25Focus on destroying houses.
- 26Train a few more peasants if you cannot produce knights steadily.
- 27If a meat wagon attacks, use a knight to finish it off or wait for one from the barracks.
- 28If purple attacks your knights instead of towers at your base, run around until towers kill them, then deal with the meat wagon.
- 29If you have excess resources, build another barracks and train knights from there.
- 30Hotkey both barracks to the same key for even distribution of knight training.
- 31Regularly update your attack group.
- 32Keep destroying houses and alternating back to your base if needed.
- 33If you need to do things at your base, ensure your group is attacking a house before you leave.
- 34Once you have a full group of 11 knights and Arthas, you can safely attack Mal'Ganis.
- 35Shift-command your army to attack 4 or 5 houses at once.
- 36If you encounter Mal'Ganis, focus fire him down and keep Arthas's Holy Light on healing.
- 37If any knights die, resurrect them.
- 38Focus on destroying houses and villagers.
- 39Be aware that Mal'Ganis resurrects in the lower left; if you kill him there, move to the right side of the map.
- 40Zerg attack a bunch of houses and clear the villagers a few times, staying away from Mal'Ganis as much as possible.
Tips
- You can indicate when a house has been destroyed when the screen shakes a bit.
- Once the castle is assembling, have a peasant start building additional farms and shift-command them to your watch towers to turn on auto-repair.
- Hotkey your barracks.
- Your knights can outrun meat wagons.
- If you get a second barracks, hotkey both to the same key, and any knights you order will be evenly distributed between the barracks.
- The undead are weak and your knights can drop houses in about a minute.
- Arthas's undead don't do too much damage to your knights.
- A group of 11 knights is plenty to finish the mission with.
