Warcraft III: Reforged The Shores of Northrend mission walkthrough. Learn how to establish a base camp and destroy Mal'Ganis' base.
Walkthrough
- 1Start by hotkeying your current units. Head out the bottom left path, kill the wolves, and backtrack to the landing.
- 2Head out the top path to the right, take the first left, and attack the wolves. Focus the large purple wolf first. Grab the dropped Scroll of the Beast, assuming you have an open item slot from the town hall portal used near the end of the previous mission.
- 3Continue south and head right to kill more wolves.
- 4Proceed up the path, past the path to your right, to reach a camp of ice trolls. Use the Scroll of the Beast here. Focus the level 8 troll first, then the lesser trolls.
- 5Grab the Potion of Greater Healing. You can destroy the hut in the upper left for a Potion of Mana, which may be more useful than the healing potion as Arthas usually handles standard unit survivability.
- 6Head left and ensure Arthas is at full mana. You will need to heal and potentially use resurrection for the next fight. Save your game if desired.
- 7Head up to the left to encounter two level 5 Nerubians and one level 8 Nerubian. The level 8 Nerubian casts area damage that can quickly deplete your footmen. Be quick with your (unit control) micro. It's advisable to send Arthas in first, followed by other units. Focus fire on the level 5 Nerubians first, as the level 8 is too far back to target effectively.
- 8Once a level 5 Nerubian is down, retreat if needed to refresh, then take down the second level 5. After that, finish the level 8 Nerubian.
- 9If units die, cast Resurrection shortly after. If several units die, you might consider letting a few more perish to save Arthas' mana, then resurrect them at full health. Ensure all units are near each other if you choose this tactic.
- 10After the level 8 Nerubian is defeated, grab the Orb of Frost, which allows you to slow enemy units.
- 11Return to where you killed the trolls and take the southeast path to kill more trolls.
- 12Head back north and take the last path on your right for a (story event) cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) and objective completion.
- 13After the cutscene, if Arthas has leveled up, spend his attribute point on Divine Shield. If he hasn't leveled yet, he should be close.
- 14Once you have control of the base, train approximately 10 additional Peasants. Assign 4 to gold, 5 to lumber, and keep 1 to repair.
- 15Use a Peasant to repair the Watch Tower and Gyrocopter in the lower left. Have another Peasant build a couple of Farms, as you are likely near your food capacity.
- 16Once the repair is complete, have the Peasant start building Scout Towers. After building 2 Farms, send that Peasant to build a Lumber Mill by the west forest, near the Barracks.
- 17Expect attacks from the north and north-west. Consider destroying your Barracks and moving it lower into your base, south of the Town Hall and out of the miners' way, for easier unit training away from the attack area.
- 18Set up your defense in a triangular formation near the intersection of the two paths. The Farms may extend slightly but should not be a major issue. A suggested defense involves approximately 8 Watch Towers and 2 Cannon Towers.
- 19Once the Lumber Mill is finished, research Masonry and upgrade all built Scout Towers. If lumber is running low, assign all available Peasants to lumber, adding one or two more if needed.
- 20When you have enough Peasants, upgrade to a Keep. Dedicate all resources to finishing your defense setup.
- 21Fend off attacks while building. Use Muradin's Thunder Clap on groups of enemies and Storm Hammer on the Lich if it appears. Keep all units healed by Arthas.
- 22Once the Keep upgrade is complete, research Improved Lumber Harvesting from the Lumber Mill and the second rank of Masonry.
- 23When at least half your Watch Towers are built, you should be safe to pull all units except your heroes back into the base.
- 24As your defense nears completion, build the Blacksmith to start researching upgrades. Aim for the full rank of all upgrades.
- 25Suggest building non-unit producing structures in the southern passageway you entered from to save space in your main base.
- 26Build the Workshop, then upgrade your last 2 Scout Towers to Cannon Towers if desired.
- 27Construct the Altar of Kings (required for Castle) followed by the Arcane Sanctum. Utilize cleared forest areas on the left for these buildings if base space is limited.
