It's possible to enhance the capabilities of your AC through upgrades within the OS Tuning menu. These are acquired through spending OST chips, of which there are a total of 197 available that are won via arena battles. Core Expansions, unique abilities, damage/defence modifiers, and health recovery increases are some of the potential options that can be acquired.

System Unlocks

Boost Kick

This ability is performed by clicking L3 whilst Assault Boost is active. It acts as a heavy attack by using the AC's weight in combination with the speed of the Assault Boost to inflict lots of damage.

Weapon Bay

The Weapon Bay provides the option to equip Arm weapons on each shoulder that can be equipped by pressing either L1 or R1 for the respective side. This allows certain weapons to be available for use whilst in combat.

Weight Control

The ability to purge weapons is possible once this tuning upgrade is purchased. If a particular weapon slot becomes obsolete during combat or extra speed is required then pressing Left along with L2 / R2 / L1 / R1 simply purges the desired part.

Manual Aiming

An advanced-based tuning upgrade that opens up manual aiming for the player in order to have more accuracy without the disturbance of auto lock on. Simply hold R3 down to enable this mode & press again to disable it, reverting back to the default mode.

Quick Turn

This feature adds on the ability to Quick Turn by pressing both Circle + Left Stick to perform an exceptionally fast movement in the desired direction. Very useful in particular when up against fast opponents.

Core Expansions

Assault Armor

When installed as a Core Expansion, this creates a pulse explosion that surrounds the AC as soon as L3 + Triangle are pressed together. This deals out damage in the area whilst also negating any incoming fire from inflicting any damage.

Pulse Protection

It's possible to create a pulse shield with this Core Expansion when Triangle + L3 are both pressed down. This barrier will be placed in a fixed position where it was activated until it runs out & provides cover against incoming fire.

Pulse Armor

This Core Expansion provides a pulse barrier similar to above when both Triangle + L3 are pressed together. The difference here is that rather than being set in a fixed position, the pulse barrier will follow the trail of the AC.

Terminal Armor

The ability of this Core Expansion is essentially a second wind, allowing the AC to survive when AP falls to 0 automatically without any necessary inputs. There will be a pulse barrier that appears once this situation occurs.

Attack Control

Kinetic Weapons - Fire Control Tuning

Increases damage output for all kinetic-based weapons, excluding melee.

  • Tier 1 - Kinetic Damage +3%
  • Tier 2 - Kinetic Damage +6%
  • Tier 3 - Kinetic Damage +9%
  • Tier 4 - Kinetic Damage +12%
  • Tier 5 - Kinetic Damage +15%

Explosive Weapons - Fire Control Tuning

Increases damage output for all explosive-based weapons, excluding melee.

  • Tier 1 - Explosive Damage +3%
  • Tier 2 - Explosive Damage +6%
  • Tier 3 - Explosive Damage +9%
  • Tier 4 - Explosive Damage +12%
  • Tier 5 - Explosive Damage +15%

Energy weapons - Output Control Tuning

Increases damage output for all energy-based weapons, excluding melee.

  • Tier 1 - Energy Damage +3%
  • Tier 2 - Energy Damage +6%
  • Tier 3 - Energy Damage +9%
  • Tier 4 - Energy Damage +12%
  • Tier 5 - Energy Damage +15%

Melee Weapons - Drive Control Tuning

Increases damage output for all melee-based weapons.

  • Tier 1 - Melee Damage +5%
  • Tier 2 - Melee Damage +10%
  • Tier 3 - Melee Damage +15%

Direct Hit Modifier - Damage Tuning

Increases precision of attacks as well as the damage of direct hits against staggered enemies.

  • Tier 1 - Direct Hit Damage +5%
  • Tier 2 - Direct Hit Damage +10%
  • Tier 3 - Direct Hit Damage +15%

Access Speed - Optimization

Increase access speed when hacking or performing an override action.

  • Tier 1 - Access Speed +50%
  • Tier 2 - Access Speed +100%

Damage Control

ACS - Dynamic Deflection Control Tuning

Reduces damage from incoming enemy attacks.

  • Tier 1 - Damage Mitigation +3%
  • Tier 2 - Damage Mitigation +6%
  • Tier 3 - Damage Mitigation +9%
  • Tier 4 - Damage Mitigation +12%
  • Tier 5 - Damage Mitigation +15%

Repair Kits - Optimization

Improves the effectiveness of repair kits on top of the standard heal rate.

  • Tier 1 - Repair Kit Effectiveness +500 AP
  • Tier 2 - Repair Kit Effectiveness +1000 AP
  • Tier 3 - Repair Kit Effectiveness +1500 AP
  • Tier 4 - Repair Kit Effectiveness +2000 AP
