Learn about Magichange, Revenge Mode, Combos, and the MVP system in disgaea 5 alliance of vengeance. Boost your damage and gain advantages.

Magichange

Magichange is a special command exclusive to monster units in disgaea 5 alliance of vengeance. When a monster is adjacent to a human character, it can transform into a weapon and occupy one of the human's two weapon slots. Initially, only one monster can Magichange at a time. After progressing through the game and completing a specific task, two monsters can Magichange into each slot.

A Magichanged monster typically lasts for three turns before returning to the Base Panel and consuming a deployment slot. If the human unit is defeated while a monster is Magichanged, both units will be defeated. The benefits of Magichanging include the humanoid unit gaining the monster's first Unique Evility, receiving stat boosts, and accessing special Magichange skills.

Revenge Mode and Overloads

The Revenge Gauge, located to the left of a character's face on the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap), fills up as you receive attacks from enemies. When completely filled, the character enters Revenge Mode, which lasts for three turns. In Revenge Mode, a character's Critical Rate becomes 100%, skill SP cost is reduced to 1, and they take 25% less damage. The Revenge Meter also increases when allies are killed or when you defeat enemies already in Revenge Mode.

Some characters can learn a special skill called an Overload, usable only once per battle during Revenge Mode. Each Overload has a unique effect that can turn the tides of battle.

Team Attacks and Combos

Team Attacks occur when you use a normal attack on an adjacent enemy and have allies next to your character. A percentage displayed near the enemy's health bar indicates the chance of an ally joining in, making the normal attack stronger. This percentage can be increased by having characters in the same Squad or if they use the same type of weapon.

Combos happen when multiple characters attack the same enemy consecutively within the same turn. All attacks must be registered before executing. Subsequent attacks in a combo become stronger, dealing more damage, up to a maximum of three times at a Combo Count of 20. Performing Combos also increases the Bonus Gauge more efficiently.

Bonus Gauge and MVPs

The Bonus Gauge is present on every map and can be viewed in the menu under Bonus List, showing items and HL obtainable at the end of a battle. It is visible after each of your attacks and increases as you attack and defeat enemies. The most effective way to increase the Bonus Gauge is by using Combos to defeat enemies.

The MVP system is a new addition in disgaea 5 alliance of vengeance. After each battle, the top three characters who contributed most to the Bonus Gauge are displayed on a podium, receiving extra experience and Mana.
