Learn about Innocents in Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance! Discover how to find, subdue, and combine them to boost your stats and equipment.

Alright, let's talk about one of the coolest parts of diving into the Item World in Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance – Innocents! Think of these guys as little stat boosters that you can attach to your gear. You'll find them on pretty much any item you get, but a heads-up: anything you buy from the shop in your Pocket Netherworld will *never* have Innocents on it. Each Innocent has a value, showing how much of a boost it'll give you. For example, a Gladiator with a value of 4 on a weapon means you'll get an extra 4 Attack points when it's equipped.

When you first find an Innocent, it'll be 'unsubdued,' looking all menacing with a reddish-orange face. You'll spot them on any floor that isn't a multiple of 10. The game will make sure you see them by putting the word “Innocent” right above their heads. They start out neutral (yellow HP bar), and the best part is, regular enemies won't bother them, so you don't need to rush. However, they can still get caught in the crossfire if an enemy attacks near them. If you decide to attack and defeat the Innocent yourself, you'll 'subdue' it. This does two awesome things: first, its value doubles (so that Gladiator 4 becomes a Gladiator 8!), and second, you can then combine it with other Innocents of the same type back at the Innocent Shop in your Pocket Netherworld.

Image: Innocents are always highlighted at the beginning of any floor (left). Subduing (killing) them will make their icon turn into a smiley face (right) on the item.

Remember, the Soft Cap is the limit for a single stack of an Innocent before it splits into a new stack, while the Hard Cap is the absolute maximum that Innocent can affect a character; anything more won't make a difference.

Dual Stat Innocents

You can't find these out in the wild! You'll need to use the Innocent Farm feature. Just pop one of each single-stat Innocent you want to combine into the farm, and after some battles, they'll 'give birth' to a new Innocent. For instance, to make a Hard Worker (ATK + INT), put a Gladiator and a Tutor in the farm and battle until they produce one.
