Chapter 1 - Coming of Age

After the opening cutscene, equip the Trodain Bandana and Trodain Togs from the pause menu (Triangle button) under "Equipment".

Open your minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen) (Square button) and follow Sandy and Gemma. Note pink dots on the minimap indicating NPCs with important dialogue.

Talk to the woman marked with an "!", then head up the stairs to speak with Dunstan (the mayor) and Amber (your mother).

Cross the footbridge to engage in your first battle against three slimes. Sandy will assist, and Gemma may toss healing phials.

Before proceeding with Sandy, go left up the stairs behind the shrine to find a chest containing a Pot Lid. Equip this if using a one-handed sword.

Follow Sandy into the cave.

Cross the log bridge and climb the rock wall to find a sparkling spot by a tree containing a Medicinal Herb.

Continue into the cavern to receive a tutorial on combat initiation. Use the X button when an orange arrow appears to start combat advantageously.

Defeat the slimes to level up and unlock the Frizz spell.

Cross the next bridge and proceed through the cavern, defeating enemies including Needlers.

At the fork, turn right and descend the steps to find pots containing minor loot.

Return to the fork and continue deeper. Look for a sparkling spot on the right for copper ore.

Fight the final group of enemies and exit the cave.

After a cutscene, you will face a mini-boss battle against two smogs. Use Gemma's healing to help defeat them.

Gain another level and find a piece of pink pine behind a tree to the left. You will receive the "Amateur Itemologist" accolade.

Shimmy up the rope, cross the ledge, and climb down the rope (or jump) to proceed.

Clamber up the rock face to reach the summit. After a cutscene, find another piece of pink pine by a tree.

Enter the cavern again to return to the foot of the tor.

Head towards Cobblestone Tor and encounter the mayor to receive the "Coming of Age" accolade and trophy.

In the village, open your minimap and note the red lines indicating enterable doors.

Enter the nearby cavern and climb the ladder to find pots and barrels with minor loot, plus a SEED OF AGILITY.

Go behind the church to find barrels with minor loot.

Check the barrels outside the shop.

In the northernmost house, find barrels out front and a chest in the back garden containing a Cypress Stick. Examine the bookshelf inside.

Climb hay bales to the roof for a Medicinal Herb. The adjacent building has breakable barrels.

Go east across the bridge. Find pots behind the first building. Ignore the steps leading to a locked Magic Key door.

Climb onto the roof of the eastern building for a piece of pink pine.

Go up the slope to your house. Find a FLURRY FEATHER and a chest with 50G on the roof of the outbuilding. Pick up fresh water northwest of the house.

Inside your house, a scene with Amber will update your quest. Open the wardrobe for Plain Clothes and break barrels.

Climb the ladder in the back of the house for breakable pots.

Return to the village center to find Gemma by the tree. After the scene, it will be morning.

Open your map and locate the purple dot indicating a quest giver. Talk to him to start "The People's Friend" quest, as you already possess the required Flurry Feather.
