Chapter 18 - Fortress of Fear

Approach the gates for a scene and a boss battle against Indignus. Use two lots of Kabuff to protect you from his high damage physical attacks and Hymn of Ice to protect against Kacrack. Use healing to keep on top of his damage output and your highest damage single-enemy attacks to take him down. You will receive the Blue Orb for defeating him.

Use the save point in the courtyard and go through the gates. The minimap (a small map displayed on the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap), or Heads-Up Display, showing your immediate surroundings) works differently in this dungeon; only the section you're currently in is highlighted, and you can't see Sparkly Spots (glowing points where items can be found).

Make your way past the Dark Dullahans into the central room. Go east. At the crossroads, go north to find an Evencloth Sparkly Spot and south for a chest containing three spatters of Molten Globules. The way further east is blocked by a Metal Dragon.

Go through the door the Metal Dragon was guarding and activate the mechanism to unblock a door elsewhere on the level.

Return to the central room. The door to the north is sealed, so go west. In the southwest room is a chest containing the 'Pride of the Valkyries' recipe book.

Go to the north of the area and look under the stairs for a chest containing a Liquid Metal Jacket.

Go up the stairs to find a Pandora's Box that will drop a Seed of Skill on defeat.

Continue up the western staircase and grab some minor loot from the breakable vases.

On Level 2, go south and continue south at the crossroads. Continue round to the southeast to find a chest containing 3 pieces of Technicolour Dreamcloth.

Return to the crossroads and go west. Take the exit to the exterior to find a chest containing a Chronocrystal.

Go back inside and go east to the central room on this level for a scene. Defeat the Dragooner enemies to obtain a mount, enabling you to fly to two platforms. The southern one has a Platinum Ore Sparkly Spot. If you fly down to the room below, you will also find a Savvy Sapphire Sparkly Spot that wasn't there before.

Return to level 2 and take the eastern exit from the central room. The eastern chamber has a Goobricant Sparkly Spot. Take the exit to the exterior.

On Level 2 - Exterior, follow the path to the platform in the east and use a teleportation device to the opposite platform. Defeat the Hard-Boiled Eggsoskeleton enemies so that you can use them to jump up the platforms to the Level 3 entrance. The first platform has an Evencloth Sparkly Spot.

On Level 3, from the entrance, go east past a T-junction to find a chest containing the 'General Directives' recipe book.

Return to the T-junction and go south to the central room for another scene. Defeat the Dread Dragooner enemies and use the dragon to access an eastern platform with a Saint's Ashes Sparkly Spot and a western platform with a chest containing 2 phials of Sainted Soma. An Equable Emerald Sparkly Spot will have appeared on the ground floor.

Return to the central platform and take the southern exit. Head east and wait for a Visor Kaiser to appear. Use your crossbow if necessary to provoke it and defeat so that you can ride it across the electrified platforms. If you want to, you can continue east to a room filled with enemies and slot machines from which you can obtain 2000 tokens.

Return to the southern passage and go west and west again to find a chest containing a MINI MEDAL. Now go north and west to Level 3 - Exterior.

On Level 3 - Exterior, the first platform has two Jerkules enemies, which means you can farm them for a Brodysseus encounter by returning to the fortress interior to cause them to respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death). Take the teleporter to the northwest platform and use the other teleporter to make your way to the southwest platform. Defeat the Jerkules here to access a chest containing the recipe book 'In Fine Fettle with Liquid Metal'.

Climb up the steps and use the teleporter to access the eastern platform. You'll need to defeat one of the Hellrider enemies so that you can use its mount to climb up to the next level. Don't go further up immediately. Instead, make your way to the east of the middle level to find a chest containing 50000G.

Return to your mount and climb to the upper level. Your way forward is blocked by a Great Dragon. Defeat it and go back into the fortress.

On Level 4, fight your way north through the enemies and enter the central room for a scene. Defeat a Dread Dragooner and use its dragon mount to access an eastern platform with a chest containing an AGATE OF EVOLUTION. Three new Sparkly Spots will appear on the ground floor: a Royal Ruby, an Artful Amethyst and a Sunny Citrine. Since you have a shortcut to the fourth level, this is a good time to forge some of the new recipes you've been finding since the liquid metal items are the most powerful you can access right now.
