Discover key locations like Devyn's Barber Shop and The Black Cat in Gran Soren. Learn about Mountebank's forging services and find hidden loot in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.
Walkthrough
- 1Masons Midnight Mission: Approach the Gran Soren castle at night to automatically start this quest. Mason, your former stalker, believes Salvation, a cult, may have an inside man in the castle. Your objective is to identify this person.
- 2Devyn's Barber Shop: From Fountain Square, head south-east towards Arsmith's Alehouse. Take the southernmost road, go down a ramp, and find Devyn's Barber Shop. Here, you can alter your Arisen and Main Pawn's appearance (hair color, eye color, hairstyle, skin tone, voice) for a fee.
- 3The Black Cat: Continue south-east from Devyn's Barber Shop, cross a bridge, and follow the road east. At a fork, continue east downhill, then down stairs leading north. Turn east, then north to find The Black Cat. The owner, Mountebank, offers several services:
- Retrieving lost quest items (for a fee).
- 4Selling rarities, including 'gold' weapons (as you complete Arsmith's quests), Skeleton Keys (to open locked doors), Ferrystones (for fast travel, 2,000G each), and a 'Set of Lady's Garb' (for male characters to complete a later quest).
- 5In subsequent playthroughs, he sells Portcrystals for customizable fast-travel hubs.
- 6He also offers item forgery, which can sometimes affect quests (though results may be sub-optimal) and is useful for duplicating 'Materials' for weapon and armor upgrades (a late-game convention).
- 7Avoid buying his Wakestone Shard as it's overpriced.
- 8Looting the Urban Quarter and the Venery: From The Black Cat, head east to an empty shop. Go north up stairs along the north side of this store. Jump onto a low roof to the north, then turn and jump onto the roof to the south. From the southern end of this building, jump across the road to the lower roof of The Black Cat. Enter the open door to find an Ornate Chest containing a forged Wakestone Shard, which grants the achievement/trophy 'The Knave'.
- 9Finding the Third Journal Entry: From the lower roof of The Black Cat, jump to a higher roof (north or west). Head to the north-western corner and cross a tiled roof-bridge to a building roof to the north. Head west to find a flat section with a ladder leading down. Descend the ladder to an enclosed area with a rounded chest containing the Third Journal Entry.
Tips
- Mountebank's forging ability is particularly useful for duplicating rare materials needed for late-game weapon and armor upgrades.
- While Mountebank sells Ferrystones, finding Portcrystals and placing them strategically is more beneficial for long-term fast travel.
- The 'Set of Lady's Garb' from The Black Cat is important for a specific quest if your Arisen or Main Pawn is male.
- Be cautious about buying Wakestone Shards from Mountebank; they are readily available elsewhere later in the game.
- Achievement/Trophy: 'The Knave' (Obtained a forgery).
- Item: Third Journal Entry.
