Routing a Monster Infestation

Rest and stash loot at an inn. Head to the Shadow Fort in the north-western corner of Devilfire Grove.

Inside the Shadow Fort, locate the large stairs to the north-west leading to a massive gate. South of these stairs, find a squad of soldiers.

Before talking to the soldiers, loot the area for Warrior Remains, which may contain Grievous Horns, Ring of Purpure, or Silver Ring.

Talk to Ser Robert, the soldier. He will task you with invading the fortress through a hole in the ground.

Enter the tunnel, collect Fiend’s Perch mushrooms, and defeat Giant Bats.

In the storage room, defeat Goblins and Hobgoblins. Loot the room for bottled items and search a rounded chest for potential loot like Obliteratrix, Ogre Bone, or Over-Knee Boots.

Proceed through the tunnel into the Shadow Fort.

Head up stairs to the first landing, then continue to the roof of the first gatehouse tower.

Defeat Goblins and Hobgoblins on the roof.

On the roof, look north-west towards the keep and note the ballistae.

Loot a square chest on the roof (accessible by jumping on crates) which may contain Cyclops Veil.

South-east of the stairs, find an empty lever slot.

Behind crates to the south-east, find another square chest that might contain a strategy scroll.

North of the stairs, find a shattered bridge connecting to the northern gatehouse tower.

Leap to the northern tower and defeat Goblinoids. Be aware of ballistae fire from the keep.

If you cleared the northern tower, a ballistae may be present on this gate-tower.

Search the south-western battlements of the northern tower for a ladder leading down.

Descend and head north-west under the ruined bridge to reach the interior grounds.

Locate a shoddy structure north-west of the southern-most gatehouse tower. The front door is barred.

Find a ladder on the north-western wall of this structure.

Before scaling the ladder, be prepared to face two Cyclopes (one helmeted) and Goblinoids, while also avoiding ballistae fire from the keep.

To deal with the ballistae: either fight directly beneath the keep walls where they cannot hit you, or fight south of the structure you need to scale. Fighting near the keep walls offers more maneuverability.

Loot warrior remains north-east of the structure for potential items like Hide Armor, Silver Ring, or Steel Greatsword.

Search a rounded chest for potential loot like Bandit Stalkers, Barreled Helm, or Bone Armor.

Scale the ladder on the north-western wall of the structure.

On the wooden platform, loot a square chest for potential items.

Drop into the structure and break the bar holding the door shut.

Loot the two rooms within the structure.
