Follow this walkthrough to reach Gran Soren in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. Learn about enemies like Bandits and Wolves, and how to protect the escort.
Walkthrough
- 1Leave the Encampment via the eastern gate.
- 2Speak with Elvar, who is looking for Quina. He mentions she may be in the forest. This quest can be pursued later.
- 3Continue north along the road. You will enter a new area with new enemies.
- 4The path splits; continue north. Be wary of Bandits on a ledge to the west. They are dangerous, and it's recommended to run past them if aiming for a low-level Gran Soren arrival.
- 5Continue north-east, then north-west, staying near the coastal cliffs.
- 6East of the path, past the Bandits, you will encounter packs of Wolves. It is recommended to avoid them, but if necessary, fight them instead of the Bandits.
- 7Continue along the path, which switchbacks towards the Mountain Waycastle. Avoid more Bandits on rocks to the west.
- 8Be aware of a Cyclops near a river along the coast to the north, but do not engage it.
- 9Reach the Mountain Waycastle.
- 10Speak with Mercedes near the gate. You will be tasked with escorting a wagon with a Hydra head to Gran Soren.
- 11Protect the Ox pulling the wagon, as it must survive. The Hydra head will attract monsters.
- 12Stay relatively close to the escort wagon, as monsters will not spawn far from it.
- 13Immediately after leaving the Mountain Waycastle to the west, you will be attacked by Goblins.
- 14If the Ox is injured, you can trick a Mage Pawn into healing it by standing in front of the Ox when the Mage casts a healing spell on you.
- 15Navigate through the rest of the journey to Gran Soren, protecting the escort.
Tips
- The primary goal of this section is to reach Gran Soren at a low level and in a timely manner. Avoid unnecessary combat.
- Bandits can vary greatly in strength and Vocation. The ones encountered on the main path are moderately powerful.
- Wolves are common enemies that can be dangerous in packs, especially to low-level characters. They dodge attacks and can knock you down.
- If you need to heal the Ox, ensure you are also injured so your Mage will cast a healing spell.
Monster Info: Bandits
- Bandits vary in power and Vocation.
- Bandit Striders and Rangers use Shortbows and Longbows.
- Bandit Fighters use a Sword and Shield.
- Bandit Warriors use Longswords or Warhammers.
- Bandit Mages and Sorcerers cast spells.
- Bandits encountered earlier on a western fork are more powerful than those on the main path.
Monster Info: Wolves
- Wolves dodge attacks and can perform leaping attacks that may knock you down.
- They are fast and numerous, making them elusive targets.
- Fighting them in packs can be dangerous for low-level characters.
- A strategy is to knock them down with Blink Strike and finish them off.
- Be mindful of your Pawns, especially Mages, as Wolves can quickly overwhelm them.
