Master the toughest boss fights in Fallout 2. Get detailed strategies, stats, weaknesses, and phase breakdowns for enemies like Metzger, Frog Morton, and Mother Wanamingo.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • The Rat God
    Enemies: various rats
Where: Klamath Mall in Trapper Town
    Hit points: 40 (?)
    Armor: Fur
    Weapon: Claws
    Number: Lots
    Difficulty: Easy
  • Gecko Fights
    Enemies: Geckos and Golden Geckos
    Where: Toxic Caves
    Hit points: 25 - 65
    Armor: Thick skin
    Weapon: Claws and teeth
    Number: About 8 or 9
Difficulty: Depends if you have the Power Armor
  • Metzger the Slaver
    Where: The Den
Hit points: 35-50 (I'm not sure...)
    Armor: Leather Armor
    Weapon: Shotgun
Allies: Several slavers clad in leather armor and armed with 10mm Pistols; about 30-40 hit points
Difficulty: Depends on when you fight him...can range to extremely difficult to extremely easy
  • Frog Morton
    Where: Redding
    Hit Points: 70-100 (I think)
    Armor: Leather Jacket
    Weapon: H&K G11 (!)
Allies: Several cronies that are a bit tougher than him; have Leather Armor MKII and shotguns; same amount of hit points
    Difficulty: Medium
  • "Mother" Wanamingo (the white one)
    Where: Redding
    Hit points: 220
Armor: Unknown; equivalent to Combat Armor MKII
    Weapon: Tentacles and teeth
Allies: Several "normal" Wanamingos; attack is same; armor is slightly weaker; 120 or 160 hit points
    Difficulty: Medium
  • New Reno Crime Fights
    Enemies: Crime Family guards
    Where: New Reno
    Hit Points: 70-100
    Armor: Leather-based or Metal Armor
Weapon: Sub-machine guns (all), burst-mode shotguns (Bishop's private guards), Laser Pistols (Salvatores)
    Number: 100's
Difficulty: Easy (Power Armor), Hard (without armor)
  • Military Base
Enemies: Radiated rats, Super Mutants, and Melchoir
    Where: Military Base
Hit points: 20-30 (rats), 110-130 (Super Mutants)
Armor: Fur (rats), thick skin (green Super Mutants), armor that's equal to Metal Armor MKII (normal attacks) (black Super Mutants)
Weapon: Teeth and claws (rats), Miniguns, Flamethrowers, Laser Rifles, Plasma Rifles, and Power Fists (Super Mutants)

Strategy:

  • The Rat God: Bring Sulik. Use melee weapons for regular rats and the pipe rifle for the Rat God.
  • Gecko Fights: Use the 10mm Pistol and aim for legs to cripple them. Let Sulik handle melee. Bring stimpacks and consider armor. Power Armor makes geckos flee.
  • Metzger the Slaver: Recommended to fight after completing Vault City/Gecko or obtaining Power Armor. If fighting early: steal his shotgun and allies' stimpacks/ammo. Use sledgehammer (Sulik), pipe rifle/10mm (Vic), and .44 Magnum/Metzger's Shotgun. Aim for eyes, hands, or legs. If fighting after Vault City/Gecko without Power Armor: give Sulik the sledgehammer, Vic/Cassidy Combat Shotguns, and arm yourself similarly. Ensure all team members have armor (Combat Armor for you, Metal/Leather MK2 for others). With Power Armor: attack the compound directly; expect minor damage from critical hits.
  • Frog Morton: Power Armor is helpful but not required. Shotguns and Frog's G11 can penetrate armor. Aim for hands to disable weapon skills, then target head/eyes. Kill Frog first upon entering his compound to avoid close-range damage.
  • "Mother" Wanamingo: Requires Power Armor, .44 Magnum, and Super Sledgehammer. Use .44 Magnum on the white Wanamingo's eyes. After she's dead, use the Super Sledgehammer on normal Wanamingos, then target their eyes. A Combat Shotgun is an alternative for more damage if criticals are difficult.
  • New Reno Crime Fights: Wear Power Armor and use a Combat Shotgun with 300-400 shells. Attack the crime boss after completing his quests; finish guards first, then the boss. Loot guards for SMGs and ammo. Use SMGs in burst mode for subsequent waves. Avoid using leather pistols against Salvatore's metal armor as it reflects lasers.
  • Military Base: (Details for Melchoir and Super Mutants are incomplete in the source text, focusing on rats and Super Mutants' stats/armor/weapons).
