Find the W-870 Shotgun in Resident Evil 4 (Remake)

Alright, so you're looking to grab the W-870 Shotgun early in Resident Evil 4 Remake? Smart move! This thing is a beast and can really help you out, especially when things get hairy. You'll find it in Chapter 1, but you gotta know where to look. Let's get you kitted out.

Walkthrough

First off, you need to progress through the story until you reach the Village Square. When you first enter, the villagers won't be on high alert, so you can actually crouch (yeah, that's new!) and take out a few of them quietly if you want.

Things are about to get intense. Either you'll get spotted, or a scene will kick off where a guy with a chainsaw starts chasing you. Seriously, a chainsaw.

Now, you've got a choice: run like heck, or try to take down the chainsaw maniac. Running is easier – just get as far away as you can, use the rooftops, or barricade yourself in a house.

If you're feeling brave and want to take him down (and get that sweet loot), you need to head into a specific house. It's the one to the west of the clock tower. Look for the first house on the left after you pass the pyre with the rickety fence in front of it.

Go inside that house. On the first floor, grab the Handgun Ammo and First-Aid Spray. There are also a couple of barrels you can break near the entrance on the left.

Head upstairs. At the top, you'll find the W-870 Shotgun hanging on the wall. Score!

While you're up there, check the cabinet to the left of the shotgun for a Grenade, and look on the bed at the back for some Shotgun Shells.

Now you're armed to the teeth! You should be able to handle that chainsaw guy. Wait for him to come up the stairs, get your grenade ready, and toss it when he's close. It'll likely take out some other villagers too.

Switch to your shotgun (it's usually the default weapon after picking it up) and aim for the chainsaw maniac's head. If you aim for his leg, he'll flinch, giving you a chance for a melee attack.

Empty your shotgun shells into him. If he's still standing, switch back to your handgun to finish him off. Defeating him nets you an Emerald, which is great for selling or combining with other treasures later.

Tips

Don't underestimate the power of crouching to sneak past enemies early on. It can save you a lot of ammo and hassle.
If you decide to fight the chainsaw guy, using the environment to your advantage (like kicking down ladders or shooting barrels) can make the fight much easier.
The W-870 Shotgun is fantastic for crowd control and dealing heavy damage up close. Make sure you pick up any Shotgun Shells you find!
If you miss the shotgun here, don't panic! You'll have other chances to find it later in the game, but getting it now is definitely ideal.
