How to Defeat Bitores Méndez in Chapter 6

Alright, so you've made it to Chapter 6 and it's time to face off against Bitores Méndez in the barn. Don't sweat it, I'll walk you through this! He's going to transform into a pretty gnarly, mutated form with claws and pincers, but he's got some predictable moves.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Weak Point: Head (Phase 1), Red Barrels (Phase 2)
• Primary Damage Source: Claws, Pincers, Burning Wood, Fuel Barrels

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Ground Assault

   As soon as you enter the barn, Méndez bursts through the wall and transforms. He'll start charging at you on the ground floor. His main attacks here are quick melee strikes. You'll need to get good at crouching to dodge these. Early on, though, you've got a small window to get some shots in on his head. Aim for the head whenever you can – it's your best bet for dealing damage.

   If you do get hit, don't panic. You can use your knife to stab him in the shoulder. It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. After dodging an attack, use the opening to create some distance and line up more headshots.

   Watch out for his charged attack! He'll retract all his limbs, often saying something like “judgement,” and then slowly wind up. When you see this, get as far away as possible. He’ll do two spinning attacks back-to-back. If you're far enough away, the first might miss, but be ready to dodge the second.

2. Phase 2: Barn Swinger

   Once you've dealt enough damage, Méndez will lose his lower limbs and a cutscene will play. Now he'll be swinging from the wooden beams above. At first, he'll stay towards the back of the barn and throw burning wood at you. This is tricky to dodge. The best strategy is to pick a side (left or right) and only start running just before he throws the wood. He usually throws two pieces, so make sure you can clear both. Trying to dodge these usually means you'll be too slow.

   His other attack in this phase involves throwing red fuel barrels. This is your big chance! Shoot at least once at a barrel when he throws it, and it'll explode right in his face, dealing massive damage. Keep shooting him whenever you get an opening. A rifle like the M1903 is great for hitting these barrels from a distance. If he manages to throw a barrel and you don't shoot it, it'll explode and hurt you no matter where you are.

   Listen for him to say, “Receive your judgement!” This signals an attack where he'll swing down from the beams for a quick pincer jab. You can dodge this or run to the side, but you need to time it just right before he reaches you. He'll often stay on these lower beams for a bit, but after you hit him a few times, he'll retreat to the back and cycle through his attacks again.
