Walkthrough

After the cutscene, prepare for an ambush. Enemies will attack in waves: regular enemies, dynamite throwers, and fat enemies.

Collect items scattered throughout the arena during the fight.

Joseph will assist you; monitor his health and heal him if he's in danger. If Joseph dies, it's game over.

Prioritize killing enemies quickly to reduce the threat to Joseph.

Use explosives and shock bolts strategically.

When dynamite-wielding enemies appear, interrupt them or let their own explosives harm them.

Enemies will also attack from above and from the far end of the room; use traps and explosives.

Eventually, you'll need to go to a control panel to help Kidman. Input the numbers Joseph provides (22, 5).
Tips
Skill Upgrades: Consider upgrading the crossbow's stock, charge time, and reload speed. Handgun damage and clip are also good investments.
Fat Enemy Tactic: Shoot a fat enemy in the leg with your handgun, then rush it and set it on fire with a match.

Trophy 'Not Part of the Job Description': This trophy requires Joseph to take NO damage throughout the entire ambush. It's highly recommended for New Game+ on casual difficulty. Use grenades and flash bolts early to protect Joseph. Prioritize thinning enemy numbers quickly. If Joseph is in danger, make sure he's not. Use shock traps and roll to avoid damage. If you fail, reload the auto-save before the section. After the ground waves, focus on dynamite enemies and those from above. An explosive trap at the far end is useful. Once you reach the control panel, input 22, 5. Note: Joseph must remain completely healthy; healing him means failure. The trophy is rare (1.9% on PS4).
After Ambush: Equip the shotgun and proceed through the hall towards the water tank icon, dealing with a dynamite enemy.
