The Cleaning Machine

First things first, after you've finished the quest Comes Now the Power and installed that power regulator on the Unreliable, you'll need to head into orbit. Keep an eye out for a maintenance closet; inside, you'll find a disabled automaton. That's SAM! Examine him to kick off this quest. He's not ready to roll just yet, but we're on our way.

Chat with ADA about SAM and what Hawthorne's got planned for our future cleaning buddy. Then, head back to your quarters and check the terminal. You should now see a new entry: [Search Term: SAM]. Dive into that, and you'll find three entries. The third one mentions an 'Acid Sweeper' – that's what we need! It's located on Roseway.

To get to Roseway, you'll need a Stellar Bay Navkey. You can get this from Gladys during the Passage to Anywhere quest. She'll want a hefty 10,000 Bits for it, but she's got a job offer that'll get you most of the way there: investigate a distress signal from the abandoned Roseway settlement on Terra 2. This kicks off the quest The Distress Signal. After ADA plays the signal for you, you'll be able to travel to Roseway.

Once you've landed on Roseway, you can explore the town if you like. You might even want to chat with a scientist named Orson Shaw, who'll give you the quest Vulcan's Hammer. While not strictly required for SAM, this quest *will* lead you to a storage facility southeast of town, which is exactly where we need to go to find that Acid Sweeper.

Head to the storage facility. The easiest way in is usually the eastern entrance. Keep your eyes peeled for the Acid Sweeper. Once you've snagged it, you'll be one step closer to having SAM back in action!
