Navigate the Hope in The Outer Worlds! Learn how to reroute power, deal with Quincy Duncan, and get the UDL Identity Cartridge. Your step-by-step guide.

Alright, so you've made it to the Hope, and it's time to get things moving. First things first, head over to the Hope and disembark the Unreliable. You'll want to have some good skills ready for this part – think Science, Engineering, Lockpick, and your best dialogue options. As for companions, Parvati, SAM, and Vicar Max are solid choices if you're looking to keep things peaceful.

This quest plays out pretty similarly whether you're siding with the Board or Phineas, but there are a few key differences we'll cover. The very first universal step is to cross a ramp to the west, head north, and then turn east. You'll find a terminal on the south side of some big machinery. Interact with it and select the [Patch] option to reroute power from the Unreliable to the Hope. While you're at it, don't skip reading the [Logs] on this and other terminals; they offer some cool backstory on the Hope and her crew.

Once that's done, make your way around the north side of the machinery and head up some stairs. You'll find Quincy Duncan. If you're working with Akande (even if you're also working with Phineas), he'll tell you the automechanicals on the ship don't recognize him. Basically, you're on your own, and he won't even let you 'borrow' a Hope ID cartridge, which is pretty rich considering he's tried to use fake ones himself. You'll need to pass a [Lie 50], [Intimidate 80], or [Persuade 50] check to get him to open a door to the west.

If you're *not* working with Akande (meaning you've skipped all the Board quests), Quincy will be way more hostile. You can try to convince him you were sent by the Board using a [Engineering 50] and [Lie 50] check, or a [Science 50] and [Lie 50] check. If you go for the [Lie 80] check instead, he'll see through it, forcing you to pass a tougher check: either [Lie 100], [Intimidate 80], or [Persuade 80]. If you succeed at any of these, he'll tell you to grab some uniforms from the nearby "old badge station" to the west.

The main perk of talking your way past Quincy is getting access to the badge station. Inside, you'll find a UDL Identity Cartridge on a shelf. If you can't get in there, you can always try picking the locked door on the western end of the badge office with a [Lockpick 50].

Now, the importance of this UDL ID Cartridge really depends on who you're working with. If you're allied with Akande in any way, this cartridge is super handy. The automechanicals are hostile to the corporate goons, but thanks to Phineas' Holographic Shroud, they won't bother you. Your old UDL ID Cartridges from Byzantium won't work here, but this new one from the Hope will give you cover in restricted areas. The robots will act like any other guard, asking questions if they catch you while your cover's down.

On the flip side, if you're not working with Akande, the automechanicals aren't hostile to the corporate troopers – you'll see them mingling together beyond the restricted zone north of Quincy. In this case, any UDL ID Cartridge you got from Byzantium should work fine for cover. Honestly, if you're not working with Akande, you probably completed The City and the Stars already and have a UDL ID Cartridge, making this whole Quincy situation and the cartridge here pretty much redundant.

If you couldn't get everything you wanted with Quincy, don't sweat it. West of Quincy is the "old badge station." Look along the southern edge of this building, between two sets of stairs, for a ladder. Climb it, head up some ramps, drop down a ledge to the north, and then go up another ramp. Sound familiar? It's like that area on the Groundbreaker. Sister ships, right? Head east, north, then west to the northern end of a hole. You'll see a door to the west – ignore it for now. Instead, turn north to find a terminal.

This terminal's function changes based on your quest path. If you're working with Akande, you can use the [Hack 81] option to [Power Down Sentries]. This will send all the sentries in the large chamber below and to the north to their designated bays to shut down. It won't get rid of *every* automechanical on the Hope, but it'll clear out enough that you can explore most areas without issue. Combine that with a proper UDL ID Cartridge, and this quest becomes a cakewalk. Alternatively, you can use [Hack 51] to [Modify Hope Crew Roster], which gives you a new UDL ID Cartridge for cover against the automechanicals.

If you're *not* working with Akande, you'll still get the option to [Hack 81] to [Power Down Sentries].
