Follow our step-by-step guide to complete The Long Tomorrow quest in The Outer Worlds. Learn how to navigate the Emerald Vale Community Center, find the medicine, and choose who to give it to.
Walkthrough
- 1Travel to the Emerald Vale Community Center, located northwest of Edgewater. Leave Edgewater via the northwestern gate and follow the road northwest. At the fork, continue northwest to find the community center. Be aware of marauders and mines along the road.
- 2To enter the community center, it is recommended to use the side door on the northwestern side of the building. The front door (southwestern side) leads to a lobby with many marauders.
- 3If entering via the side door, proceed southwest through a door to find two marauders. Dispatch them quietly.
- 4One of these marauders will drop a First Aid Room Key. This key is needed to access the first aid room.
- 5Alternatively, if you cannot obtain the key, you can sneak southeast past vending machines and go through another door to the southwest to find the first aid room door, which is locked. This requires a Lockpick skill of 40.
- 6If you cannot pick the lock, you can find a terminal in the lobby (requires Hack 11) to create another First Aid Room Key using the [Encode First Aid Keycard] option (requires Hack 30).
- 7If you are unable to hack or pick the lock, sneak southeast into an exhibition room, proceed northeast through a bathroom, then northwest into an office. A terminal here provides information, and a locked bin (Lockpick 10) contains a third potential First Aid Room Key and other items.
- 8From the office, unlock the barred door to the northwest to reach the hallway near the first aid room.
- 9Open the door to the first aid room and retrieve the Cache of Medicine from a table on the southwestern wall.
- 10Before leaving, explore the community center further. From the lobby, head northwest into a presentation room. Continue northwest into a smaller room and search shelves on the northwestern wall to find an Antique Sabre.
- 11Backtrack to the presentation room, go upstairs, and through a doorway to the southeast. Search a desk to find a Guide to Mechanical Engineering: Volume 1 datapad.
- 12Return to Edgewater with the Cache of Medicine.
The Recipient of Health:
- You now have a choice: give the medicine to Abernathy, Esther, or Constable Reyes.
- Giving the medicine to Abernathy or Esther grants Spacer's Choice reputation. Giving it to Constable Reyes grants reputation with The Board.
- You can attempt dialogue checks to gain more Bits:
- With Abernathy: [Medical 5] to ask about his hypochondria, then [Persuade 5] or [Intimidate 5] to shake him down for more Bits.
- With Esther: [Intimidate 5] or [Charm] check to extract more money.
- If you speak to Rosemary Kwan at the sickhouse, you can convince her to take the medicine with a [Persuade 1], [Lie 1], or [Intimidate 1] check for a small amount of extra XP.
- Constable Reyes will confiscate the medicine. Abernathy may squander it on non-existent ailments. Esther plans to give it to someone in need.
