[11-2-9] Death to Brawler swarms

Alright, so you've run into those pesky Brawler and Rapier swarms in Total Annihilation, huh? They can really mess up your day if you're not prepared. But don't worry, there's a super cheap and effective trick to make your enemies regret bringing them.

The core idea is to use gunships, specifically in swarms. They're a bit pricey to build, sure, but they can soak up a ton of damage thanks to their high strength rating, giving you time to deal with the threat. However, the real star of the show here is the flying bomb – that's the unit we talked about in Section 11-2-5. You'll want to have a few of these combos ready to go at different spots around your base.

To keep your enemy from spotting your ambush, it's a good idea to hide these flying bombs from radar. Use a radar jammer so they don't know what's coming until it's right on top of them. When you're ready to strike, activate the self-destruct on the flying bomb. Even if it doesn't land smack-dab in the middle of the swarm, the enemy planes are going to take some serious damage from the blast.

The best part about this strategy is how cost-effective it is. Both the air transports and the crawling bombs you use to make these flying bombs are pretty inexpensive in terms of metal. This means you can afford to have multiple flying bombs scattered around your base, offering protection everywhere. Just be mindful that the explosion can cause some collateral damage to your own base. Try to detonate them in an open area, or at least make sure the damage you're doing to the enemy swarm is significantly more than what you're doing to yourself.
