Discover how the AI cheats in Total Annihilation single player and skirmish modes, including its map awareness and building targeting.
In the single player game, the computer opponent knows where your buildings are at all times. It is unclear if this is due to seeing the whole map or having 100% radar (a system that reveals enemy units and buildings on the minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen)) coverage, but radar jammers (devices that disrupt enemy radar) do not work against this advantage. You will frequently be hit by attacks directly on your buildings, even when there is no way they could have been spotted or appeared on radar.
The AI also appears to cheat in skirmish mode. When the computer initiates an initial rush, it manages to build a direct path straight for your base, which is highly suspicious.
- Be aware that the AI knows your base locations at all times in single player.
- Radar jammers are ineffective against the AI's perfect knowledge in Total Annihilation.
- Expect the AI to target your base directly and efficiently, especially during early rushes in skirmish mode.
