Master Part 51 in Unreal Tournament with detailed tactics for DOM-GEARBOLT and DOM-LEADWORKS. Learn CP control, weapon loadouts, and bot strategies for victory.

This guide covers tactics for three maps in Unreal Tournament: Part 51 (DOM-GEARBOLT), DOM-GEARBOLT itself, and DOM-LEADWORKS. It focuses on controlling Capture Points (CPs), recommended bot tactics, and general strategies for each map.

DOM-GEARBOLT

Recommended CP / Bot Tactics:

  • You: Top CP
  • 3 bots: Freelance

Controlling the Map:

The Top CP is the most defensible. While bots can attack from below or use lifts, it offers local access to UDamage, thigh pads, keg, armour, and health packs. The main drawback is the lack of strong weapons like the shock rifle, with ammo for it being split between the lower level and near the Nook CP. There's no fast way to travel between the Top CP and the Lava CP. It's recommended to collect shock ammo at the start and when respawning, then head to the Top CP to camp near health packs with a full weapon. The flak cannon is more accessible with nearby ammo. Watch out for bots throwing Telefrag (T/L) onto the stairs from below for easy kills.

The Lava CP is an alternative, as many bots approach from the middle. Shock ammo and a belt are nearby, but health is scarce. It's advised to ignore the Lava and Nook CPs and let your freelance bots manage them, as they can reach all power-ups. Focus on securing the high armor.

DOM-GEARBOLT (Detailed)

PRACTISE NAME: DOM-GEARBOLT

Description: An abandoned underground military weapons storage base.

Teams: 4v4

Score Limit: 125

Powerups / Armour:

  • Thigh Pads: At the back end of the bottom spawn-room
  • Body Armour: In the alcove across the pool of green slime
  • Shield-belt: Next to the Lift CP

Recommended CP / Bot Tactics:

  • You: Lift CP
  • 1 bot: Ramp CP
  • 2 bots: Bridge CP

Controlling the Map:

This map's strategy is simple and somewhat boring. You can effectively use only the rocket-launcher. Your primary objective is to get a rocket-launcher and its nearest ammo (found under the Lift CP) and camp at the Lift CP, controlling the shield belt. Two health packs are next to the rocket-launcher spawn, and two shock ammo packs are beneath the CP. If you spawn low, grab the shock rifle, thigh pads, and armor if available.

The Lift CP is a dead end, easily spammable, and bots approaching will die, dropping weapons and providing a steady ammo supply. Bots struggle to capture and hold the Ramp CP, making it suitable for one friendly bot. Assign the other two bots to the Bridge CP, which should be avoided due to blind spots and lack of weapons. If you die, try to grab the redeemer on your way back to the Lift CP to clear out campers.

MISCELLANEOUS

Instant-hit weapons are on the lower levels with plenty of ammo, but are less effective than spam weapons like the rocket-launcher or shock rifle for most players. If bots get stuck near health packs or the rocket-launcher, shoot them to dislodge them.

DOM-LEADWORKS

PRACTISE NAME: DOM-LEADWORKS

Description: An old leadworks facility with pools of molten lead.

Teams: 5v5

Score Limit: 150

Powerups / Armour:

  • Body Armour: In the back corner of the Storage CP room. Shoot the metal panel to open.
  • Shield-belt: Behind the high metal grate in the spawn-room with the rocket-launcher and minigun.
  • Keg O' Health: Behind the high metal grate in the spawn-room with the flak cannon and pulse rifle.
  • UDamage: Behind the high metal grate in the main room next to the Storage CP.
  • Invisibility: (Incomplete in source)

Controlling the Map:

Each of the three CPs feels distinct, making the map play like several individual contests. Once familiar with the layout, navigation improves. The map doesn't heavily favor Telefrag (T/L) movement, though T/L kills in tunnels can be fun. The flak cannon is recommended for general combat.
