Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising is the second game in the Western Advance Wars series and fifth in the Japanese Game Boy Wars series. It introduces new Commanding Officers (COs), Units, and gameplay features. A remake is included in Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for Nintendo Switch.
Plot
The Black Hole Army, led by Sturm, launches a large-scale invasion of Macro Land using new weapons developed by Lash. The Black Hole COs—Flak, Lash, Adder, and Hawke—are assigned to conquer the four nations. The Allied Nations must unite to repel the invasion. The campaign culminates in a battle against Sturm and his Death Ray, a weapon threatening to destroy Wars World. Hawke ultimately betrays and kills Sturm, taking command of the remaining Black Hole forces.
New Unit
The game introduces the Neotank, developed by Black Hole, which is the strongest Tank in the game.
New Features
- Silos: Rocket-like weapons fired by Infantry or Mech units that deal 3 damage to all units in a two-square radius. Usable once per battle.
- Pipelines and Pipe seams: Impenetrable pipes that obstruct movement, with gaps that can be destroyed.
- Black Hole Weapons: New weapons exclusive to the Black Hole Army, such as the Black Cannon.
New COs and CO Powers
Advance Wars 2 features new COs for each Force, with Black Hole gaining four additional ones. All COs now have a normal CO Power and a Super CO Power, with the exception of Sturm, who only has a Super CO Power.
