Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising introduced several new terrain features and Black Hole-specific weapons that significantly impacted gameplay. These additions provided new strategic challenges and offensive capabilities for the Black Hole army.

• Silos: These are small rockets that can be fired by Infantry or Mech units. They deal 3 damage to all units within a two-square radius, making them effective against high-armor units like Neotanks. Silos can only be used once per battle.
• Pipeline and Pipe seams: These are large, impenetrable pipes that obstruct movement. Units cannot normally pass through them, but gaps can be created by destroying weaker Pipe seams.
• New Black Hole Weapons: The Black Hole army utilizes various new weapons throughout the campaign, such as the Black Cannon. These are exclusive to the Black Hole faction and cannot be used by the player.
