Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising Guide

Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, known in Japan as Game Boy Wars Advance 2, is the second game in the Advance Wars series and fifth in the Game Boy Wars series. It introduces new COs, Units, and features.

A remake by WayForward is included in Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for Nintendo Switch.

Plot

While the Allied Nations recover from war, the Black Hole Army invades Macro Land with new weapons and four new COs under Sturm's command. Flak, Lash, Adder, and Hawke are tasked with capturing Orange Star, Blue Moon, Yellow Comet, and Green Earth, respectively. The four armies must unite to repel the Black Hole invasion.

In the final confrontation, the Allied COs face Sturm at his base, near the Death Ray, a weapon that threatens to destroy half of Wars World in 30 days. After the Death Ray is destroyed and the missile is disarmed, Sturm attempts to self-destruct the missile. Hawke betrays Sturm, killing him with his Super CO Power, Black Storm, and takes over leadership of the Black Hole forces, retreating with his remaining troops.

New Unit

Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising introduced the Neotank, developed by Black Hole, which became the strongest Tank in the game.

New Features

The game features several new terrain elements:

Silos: Rockets fired by Infantry or Mech Units that damage all Units in a two-square radius, dealing three damage. Usable once per battle.
Pipeline and Pipe seams: Impenetrable Pipes that block movement, with Pipe seams being destructible sections allowing passage.
Black Hole Weapons: Various new weapons used exclusively by the Black Hole Army, such as the Black Cannon.

New COs and CO Powers

Advance Wars 2 added new COs to each Force, with Black Hole gaining four additional ones. All COs now have a normal CO Power and a Super CO Power, with Sturm being the exception, only having a Super CO Power.
