Master Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Versus mode with tips on defenses, unit production, and specific faction strategies.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Practice in Skirmishes and Comp Stomp games to hone your skills for Versus mode.
  2. 2
Use Defences as a deterrent for smaller Units or certain infiltrators, but do not rely on them exclusively as they can be bombarded or avoided. Always accompany Defences with units.
  3. 3
Employ Walls to keep out smaller units or as an alarm system when they come under attack.
  4. 4
Utilize Scouts or Aircraft to scout enemy bases or harass their Infantry.
  5. 5
Use the MCV (Mobile Construction Vehicle) as a temporary expansion unit to build at Ore Nodes quickly, and it can also crush most enemy units.
  6. 6
If an Engineer is about to capture your MCV, unpack it and run or use it to crush the Engineer. This also applies to other conventional enemy assaults.
  7. 7
To spam certain types of units, build additional production structures to increase output speed.
  8. 8
To stop fleeing MCVs as the Allies, use the Chronosphere to teleport them to a hostile destination, such as next to Tanya or a bribe-happy Spy.
  9. 9
To stop fleeing MCVs as the Soviets, a single Terror Drone can immobilize an MCV, making it vulnerable to another Terror Drone or Natasha.
  10. 10
To stop fleeing MCVs as the Empire, a single Rocket Angel can immobilize an MCV, leaving it vulnerable to Yuriko.
  11. 11
Soviet Strategy (kpw): Build a Crane, then a Reactor & Barracks. Construct 2 Ore Refineries while producing approximately a dozen Infantry (3:1 Conscripts to Flak Troopers) and an Engineer to capture your Oil Derrick. Build a War Factory and a Super Reactor. Escort your Engineer to the Oil Derrick. Move your Infantry into an attacking position; if the opponent has no Infantry, charge their base. If they do and you lose, build more Infantry. Optionally, build Terror Drones to attack ore miners; for Japan or Allies, use pairs (one to immobilize, one to kill); for Soviets without a Crane, one Terror Drone may suffice. Choose between an Airfield (recommended against Allies to counter Vindicator spam) or a Battle Lab. If an Airfield is built, construct 4 Migs and 5 Hammer Tanks and 2-3 Bullfrogs; set Migs to auto-attack incoming air units. If a Battle Lab is built, construct 3 Apoc Tanks, 5 Bullfrogs, and a couple of Hammer Tanks. Expand by packing up your MCV to build another ore miner at a nearby Ore Node, preferably not towards the enemy base, escorting it for safety. If an Airfield was built, produce about 5 Twinblades, 10 Hammer Tanks, and 5 Bullfrogs; scout the enemy base. If a Battle Lab was built, construct an Airfield (4 Migs and a couple Twinblades if against Allies, or 10 Twinblades, 5 Apocs, and Bullfrogs for other nations); scout the enemy base. Expand again, take another Ore Node, build a Naval Base and a Battle Lab if not already done, then produce Dreadnoughts supported by Twinblades and Bullfrogs/Migs. Maintain unit production (Twinblades, Dreadnoughts, Bullfrogs, Apocs), constantly attack, and outnumber or attack from multiple directions and with various unit types.
  12. 12
Soviet Strategy (No Crane): Start with more Infantry while building the base slower. Utilize the $3000 starting bonus for extra units that a Crane-start opponent cannot counter.
  13. 13
Base Defences are generally less effective than building more units (e.g., Bullfrog vs. Flak Cannon, Sentry vs. 10 Conscripts). Fixed structures can be avoided or destroyed, while moving units cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) more area, avoid attacks, and are unavoidable.
  14. 14
Walls are most effective against units without explosive attacks (Peacekeepers, Imperial Warriors, Conscripts, Mecha Tengu, Sickle etc.) or against Terror Drones, and only slightly slow down other units.
Tips
  • Always accompany Defences with units.
  • Use Scouts to peek at enemy bases or harass their Infantry.
  • If an Engineer is about to capture the MCV, unpack it and run or crush the Engineer.
  • Build additional production structures to spam units faster.
  • Use the Chronosphere to teleport fleeing Allied MCVs to dangerous locations.
  • Use Terror Drones to immobilize fleeing Soviet MCVs.
  • Use Rocket Angels to immobilize fleeing Imperial MCVs.
  • When playing Soviets without a Crane, use the starting $3000 for extra units.
  • Base Defences are generally slower to build, easier to destroy, more expensive, and weaker than building more units.
  • Walls are primarily useful against specific unit types or Terror Drones.
