Guide to Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3's The Unfathomable Fortress mission. Protect the Salvage Ship, destroy Radar Ships, and capture Fortress Power Cores.
Walkthrough
- 1Have two Hydrofoils switch to Weapon Jammer mode to take down Chopper VXs and render Cruisers harmless while Dolphins finish them off. Soviet Stingrays and Bullfrogs can also assist.
- 2Once Salvaging is finished, Spies must deactivate the Generators so Natasha can get close enough to destroy them. Escort her to the First Radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked) Ship and have her sink it.
- 3Tanya and four Combat Engineers are needed for the Second Radar Ship. Tanya clears the way for the Engineers to Capture the Generators. Keep an eye out for Cash and Health Crates.
- 4Once all Generators are Captured, sink the second Radar Ship.
- 5Build Defences around your Base. Pump out Hydrofoils and Assault Destroyers. Aircraft Carriers will become available for production.
- 6Use Navals and Aircraft to destroy Imperial forces near the eastern island and secure it. Build a Boot Camp and Armour Facility on the island and secure its resources. Repeat for the northern island.
- 7For the Floating Fortress, use Aircraft Carriers to bomb Defences surrounding the two Cores. Have Century Bombers drop Engineers next to them. Capture the two Cores simultaneously.
- 8Watch for any Sea-Wings trying to get near your Airbases and destroy them with Destroyers. Century Bombers can flank from behind and take out the Empire's two Refineries.
- 9Consider sparing one of the Docks (eliminate nearby Turrets and account for all roaming Imperial assets). If captured, you can produce Imperial naval units (save for the MCV).
- 10With roaming Imperial assets cleared, park a Spy next to each Shogun Battleship. Destroy nearby Turrets, then spend $2000 to capture them (clear the area of Burst Drones with Apollo Fighters first). Redisguise the captured Shoguns to act as forward observers.
Tips
- Aircraft Carriers, Apollo Fighters, and Century Bombers are introduced.
- If you don't build a Seaport, the empire will not attack you with Shogun Battleships. Build a large airforce and destroy the Shipyards before building a Seaport.
- The Soviets have all their technologies except Apocalypse Tanks, Kirov Airships, and Superweapons. Use Dreadnoughts to bombard enemy Defences and Bullfrogs to launch Infantry into the Fortress. Terror Drones can also damage Imperial ships.
- Twinblades can carry Armour, including Allied Armour like Guardian Tanks.
- Secure the island to the northwest as the Soviets.
- Use Bullfrogs to attack Aircraft and Stingrays against Cruisers.
- Wait for Spies to disable Generators before Natasha attacks them, or she will be killed.
- Natasha can Snipe Naginatas or sink them from a distance. Spies can also take control of Naginatas.
- Natasha can Snipe the Radar boat.
- Allow Tanya to clear the way for Combat Engineers instead of using Engineers in combat.
- It might be worth systematically eliminating all Imperial mining operations to cut their income. Two are 'behind' the fortress and require a long route around defences.
- Warning: If you're not careful, you can be swarmed by Yaris. Moving your construction yard onto land at the earliest opportunity is a good idea.
