Welcome back to our Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered guide! In this section, we're diving into three key characters: Liu Bei, Jiang Wei, and Pang Tong. We'll break down their unique movesets, how to unlock them, and some advanced strategies to help you dominate the battlefield.
Liu Bei
Liu Bei is a solid all-around character. While he might not hit as hard as Cao Cao or Sun Jian, he's faster and has some great crowd-clearing abilities that make him a reliable choice in any large-scale battle.
Liu Bei's Attacks:
- Awesome Attack: Great for clearing out crowds, though the damage isn't the highest.
- Musou Attack: A rapid series of sword slashes. It's straightforward but effective for getting out of tight spots.
- Running Attack: A sweeping slash with good range that knocks enemies back.
Advanced Strategy:
Liu Bei is incredibly versatile. His Dizzy move is perfect for setting up big combos against groups. His Charge 6 is a fantastic clear-out move, but remember you need to land five regular attacks first. Be mindful of getting hit during those initial slashes, as characters with quicker clear-out moves have an advantage.
Jiang Wei
“My lord… I shall honor you!”
History:
Originally a Wei officer, Jiang Wei was swayed by Zhuge Liang's intellect and joined Shu. He deeply admired Zhuge Liang and was groomed as his successor, even inheriting his strategy books. After Zhuge Liang's death, Jiang Wei took it upon himself to fulfill his mentor's ambition and continue the fight against Wei.
Unlocking:
You'll unlock Jiang Wei by clearing Musou mode with Zhuge Liang.
Description:
Jiang Wei is a young-looking warrior in a green, unarmored outfit, wielding a spear. He might seem a bit outmatched visually, but don't let that fool you!
Stages Played:
- The Battle at Chang Ban (208 AD) (Liu Bei vs Cao Cao)
- The Battle at Chi Bi (208 AD) (Allies vs Cao Cao)
- The Battle at Yi Ling (222 AD) (Shu vs Wu)
- The Mountain Bandit Campaign
- The Nanman Campaign (225 AD) (Shu vs Nanman)
- The Battle of Jie Ting (228 AD) (Shu vs Wei)
- The Battle at Wu Zhang Plains (234 AD) (Shu vs Wei)
Fourth Weapon:
To get Jiang Wei's fourth weapon, play the Jie Ting stage on the Shu side. You need to defeat Zhen Ji and Cao Zhen. Keep an eye out for the supply team; they'll appear near the northeast entry point (close to Sima Yi) and head northwest. Defeat the captain of this team to secure the item.
Jiang Wei's Attacks:
- Attack 1: A sweeping strike with a slight delay, but it clears out most enemies around you.
- Attack 2: An upward swing, good for juggling multiple foes.
- Attack 3: A spear thrust that can dizzy enemies and has good forward range, but watch out for the delay, which enemies can exploit.
- Attack 4: A side strike with his pole that knocks enemies back – decent crowd control.
- Attack 5: An upward spear strike, another standard juggling move.
- Attack 6: Fires a shockwave from his spear. It's tricky to aim, but powerful. If you have his fourth weapon, enemies hit by the shockwave will release lightning when they fall.
- Musou Attack: Rapid spear swings, excellent for breaking out of crowds.
- Running Attack: A sweeping slash with good range that knocks enemies down.
Overall Assessment:
Jiang Wei is a decent character, but he lacks that standout move to make him truly unique among spear users. His speed is a definite plus, making him faster than many other spear fighters. While not terrible, he doesn't quite reach the heights of characters like Guan Yu or Ma Chao.
Advanced Strategy:
He struggles a bit with clearing out large groups quickly. However, his regular attacks are very fast, allowing you to hit enemies repeatedly. Use this speed to your advantage to weave through crowds and take down enemy officers.
Pang Tong
“I guess I have some time to play…”
History:
A contemporary and peer of Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong was also a brilliant strategist. He played a crucial role in the
