Walkthrough

    Play the Battle of He Fei in Musou Mode. This is typically Sun Shang Xiang's third mission, but may feature Sun Jian or Sun Ce as the commander depending on your character.

    Proceed to the bridge and wait for the Taishi Ci death event.

    When Sun Quan approaches, a bridge jump cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (a non-interactive cinematic sequence) will play.

    Head directly to Cao Cao and defeat him. You do not need to defeat Zhang Liao if he ambushes Sun Quan, unless playing on a higher difficulty or seeking item/upgrade drops.

    After defeating Cao Cao, Sun Quan will be unlocked.
Tips
  • Sticking near the bridge prevents a long trek around the map.
  • On easier difficulties, rushing Cao Cao is a viable strategy without worrying about Sun Quan's safety.
  • If playing as Wei, keeping Zhang Liao alive can result in him defeating Taishi Ci.
  • Defeating other generals in the main square on Wei side may cause Zhang Liao to leave the center for a sneak attack.
  • Be aware of Gan Ning's ambush near your HQ on Wei side; he is a tough opponent with many soldiers and archers.

Shu Side:

Walkthrough (Brute Force):

  1. Fight through most enemies, including Xu Huang and a lesser general, while dealing with numerous archers.
  2. Once the water attack begins and you reach higher ground, Wu troops will appear. You can choose to save your allies or proceed directly to the boss.
  3. Defeat Lu Xun, who is a tough opponent.
  4. Fight your way through remaining enemies to face Sima Yi at the end.

Walkthrough (Easier Way):

  1. Start near the beginning of the map and wait for the water to rise.
  2. Begin moving towards Sima Yi.
  3. When Wu reinforcements appear, return to your starting position.
  4. Find and defeat Lu Meng. This will cause other Wu generals to retreat.
  5. Defeat Sima Yi.

Allies Side:

Walkthrough

    Head to the upper level of the castle and defeat enemies.

    Target Guan Ping on the bottom right first.

    After the water attack hits and reinforcements appear, go after Guan Yu.

    Pass Guan Yu initially to defeat his gate captain, then return to defeat Guan Yu.
Tips
  • You will not drown from the water attack; it only rises when you are on higher ground.
  • Bodyguards can drown if left in the water; push them to higher ground if they do not move.
  • Lu Xun is a very tough opponent.
  • The easier method of defeating Lu Meng first takes longer but involves less difficult fights.
  • Guan Yu is a powerful opponent.

  • Snack: Southern edge from the high tower where Sima Yi is positioned.
  • Wine: Top left of the map, to the Northern corner of the Shu troop entry point.

Wei Side:

    Defeat enemy generals on your way to face Liu Bei.

    Be cautious of archers in watch towers.
  3. 3
    Avoid spiked traps on the mountain; they hurt significantly.

    Hold L1 to strafe walk for increased speed when moving uphill. A horse can also be acquired.
  5. 5
    A cutscene will show Huang Zhong firing an arrow that lowers morale; defeating Huang Zhong quickly can mitigate this, though it has minimal impact on the overall battle.

    One path leads through Huang Zhong, another through Zhang Fei; backtracking to defeat both can be done for power-ups.

    An ambush party led by Zhao Yun appears as you approach Liu Bei; defeating Liu Bei quickly negates this threat.

Shu Side:
