Guide to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Mushroom Forest, including defeating Malboro and finding the Mog's Nest. Learn spell combinations and boss strategies.

  • Novice's Sword (recommended for Flametongue fusion)
  • Fire magic and Holy magic (recommended for Malboro)
  • Copper Sword (as main weapon)
Walkthrough
  1. 1
Start the level and head west, defeating enemies and opening a chest for gil. On your second or third cycle, new mushrooms will grow next to the chest, allowing access to another path.
  2. 2
Follow the path, defeat enemies, and collect items from the three chests at the end.
  3. 3
Continue west from the gil chest, following the path. Take either path at the junction and defeat enemies when the paths merge again.
  4. 4
Defeat the enemies, then run onto a mushroom. Wait for your moogle or all players to be on the mushroom to leap to the next area.
  5. 5
In the next area, you will find an Ahriman. Combine two spells, such as Thunder and Blizzard or Fire and Blizzard, to form the spell Gravity. Cast Gravity below the Ahriman to damage it and bring it to the ground.
  6. 6
Open the chest and head east, taking either path at the junction.
  7. 7
In the next area, if you are on cycle three, check south for a mushroom that leads to a new area with a treasure chest.
  8. 8
Defeat the Ahriman in the open area and open the chest.
  9. 9
Continue east up the path, defeating enemies and opening the chest.
  10. 10
Head west, defeat all enemies, and look for a mushroom above you. Jump on it and open the chest.
  11. 11
To your right, examine a mushroom to reveal a hole. Enter the hole to reach the Mog's Nest. Collect your stamp and head back outside.
  12. 12
Return to the main path and follow it east. Defeat all enemies.
  13. 13
When you see two Hell Plants guarding a narrow path, you are near the boss. Make preparations, such as equipping fire and holy magic, and head forward.

BOSS: Malboro

  1. First, defeat the two Hell Plants in the arena.
  2. Malboro has five attacks: vines from the ground (avoid by moving), a black cloud area attack (avoid the target area), sucking players up (run forward and slash), exhaling green gas (can do damage), and charging Slowga (avoid the large radius; if hit, run to the back of the arena until Slow wears off).
  3. If at one heart or less, run to the back of the arena and use Cure on yourself.
  4. Malboro has little resistance to Fire and Holy magic. Gravity, Blizzard, and Thunder cause little damage. Slow and Stop are ineffective.
  5. The best weapon is the Novice's Sword combined with the Copper Sword as your main weapon to create Flametongue. Assign the Novice's Sword and Fire to command slots to fuse them.
  6. Stand in front of Malboro and use rapid focus attacks with Flametongue and Fire spells to win.

CYCLES TWO AND THREE:

  • Malboro will cast Blizzaga.
Tips
  • Combining spells like Thunder and Blizzard creates Gravity, which is effective against flying enemies like the Ahriman.
  • Keep moving to avoid Malboro's vine attack.
  • If Malboro sucks you up, run forward and slash.
  • The safest place to heal is the back of the arena.
  • Flametongue, created by fusing the Novice's Sword and Fire, deals major damage to Malboro.
  • On your second or third cycle, new mushrooms can help you reach new paths and treasure chests.
  • On cycle three, a mushroom to the south in a specific area leads to a new area with a treasure chest.
  • Diamond Armor (requires 165+ points in the first cycle, 181+ points in the second cycle, or 207+ points in the third cycle for 3P)
  • Ashura, Cat's Bell, Earth Pendant, Malboro Seed (Artifact set given for Group 8, 1P, 3rd Cycle, requires 169+ points)
