Boss Fight: Raem
This is one of the hardest bosses in the game. Raem is attached to a giant sword with a smaller enemy below it. The arena is visually stunning.
Raem's Attacks:
- When lower body is showing:
- Laser Beam: Fires a laser down at the screen, indicated by a white circle on the ground. Standing at the edge and immediately moving out of the circle is crucial. This attack deals significant damage (approx. 4 hearts) and can KO you in two hits. Stay close to Raem to minimize its use. Heal immediately if hit.
- Ice Shards: The lower body sends a laser through the ground, creating ice that shatters and deals damage. Avoid this at all costs.
- Purple Gas: Sprays a purple gas that can stop you for a few seconds. Dangerous if combined with the laser attack.
- Memory Drain: Used for consuming memories (bubbles). Does not directly harm you but prevents you from obtaining Ultracites.
- When upper body is showing:
- Single Black Laser: Fires a single black laser in a straight line, dealing heavy damage (3-4 hearts). Constantly move to avoid it.
- Twin Cannons: Fires two pink lasers, each dealing about 3 hearts of damage.
- White Light Blast: A blast of white light that also deals around 3 hearts of damage.
Strategy:
- Memories and Ultracites: At the start of the battle, bubbles containing family members (your memories) will appear. Your memory count decreases as these appear.
- Casting Cure on a memory bubble transforms it into an Ultracite, the most powerful Magicite.
- Collect as many Ultracites as possible. If you wait too long, Raem's lower body will suck them in, preventing you from obtaining them.
- Ultracite Effects: Casting an Ultracite instantly charges Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, or Curaga. It can also cast Invincibility.
- Invincibility: If you cast Invincibility, you'll be surrounded by a blue shield for about a minute. Use this time to attack Raem's vulnerable points.
- Attacking Weak Points:
- When facing the lower body, slash the small enemy attached to the big sword. This does not damage Raem directly but is necessary.
- When Raem lowers itself to face the upper body, use Invincibility to rush between its wings and slash. This is the primary way to damage Raem's upper body.
- Keep moving constantly to avoid the upper body's attacks.
- Heal immediately after being hit, especially by the laser attacks.
- Having a large supply of Phoenix Downs is highly recommended, as this fight is very difficult.
