Your guide to Year 4, Part 49 of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Learn about Mount Kilanda, its enemies, items, and how to navigate the Jegon River.

Alright, you've just finished Year 3 and snagged that final Myrrh drop. Time for the traditional Tipa celebration, and then we're off to Year 4! We're about 3/5ths of the way through the game now, so keep pushing! Don't forget to chat with your parents back in Tipa; they'll give you a nice item to help you out. As you're getting ready to set off, you'll run into Sol Racht again, and he'll spill some more beans about this whole Black Night situation.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
First things first, from Tipa, make your way to the Goblin Wall. Here, you'll want to change your chalice element to Earth. This is crucial for what's coming up.
  2. 2
Next, cross the Miasma Stream and enter the Iron Mine Downs. This is a good spot to SAVE YOUR GAME. Trust me, you'll see why very soon.
  3. 3
While you're in the area, find another Moogle Nest and get Mog's hair trimmed. Mount Kilanda is notoriously hot, and a shorter 'do for Mog will make your journey much more comfortable.
  4. 4
Now, head over to the Jegon River. You'll find Tristan there. He'll let you know that the boat's hull has been reinforced, meaning you can now sail further than before.
  5. 5
Tell Tristan you're ready to head to Mount Kilanda. Be prepared to shell out 500 gil for the trip.
  6. 6
Once you arrive at Kilanda, you'll automatically be transported into Mount Kilanda itself. This means you won't be able to access the World Map menu or save your game once you're inside.

Mount Kilanda Details:

Mount Kilanda is a bit of a unique area. The moment you arrive, you're essentially inside the mountain, cutting off access to the World Map and the ability to save. The only way out is by boat, and you'll have a choice between heading to the east or west side of the Jegon River when you depart. It's a large area, and as mentioned, it's incredibly hot. Trimming Mog's hair earlier really does help make the trek more bearable.

The boss at the end of Mount Kilanda is particularly interesting. Its difficulty can actually change based on whether you defeated certain enemies in the main dungeon earlier on. Regardless of the difficulty, it's still shaping up to be a challenging fight.
